Introduction

Good morning, Church family! Today, we're diving headfirst into a topic that often ruffles feathers but is of utmost importance - the intersection of faith, morality, and politics. We'll be exploring the Bible's stern warning against confusing good with evil, the responsibility that falls upon us to preach the Word, and the role politics play in the Bible. Our guiding scriptures today are from Isaiah 5:20 and 2 Timothy 4:2.

Isaiah warns, "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!" (Isaiah 5:20).

Meanwhile, Paul encourages Timothy, "Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction" (2 Timothy 4:2).

This is a call for discernment. It's a call for us to be in the world, but not of the world. It's a call for us to speak truth, even when it's unpopular.

The Bible's Warning Against Confusing Good and Evil

The Bible's warning against confusing good and evil is a call to discernment, a call to vigilance, and a call to steadfastness in the face of moral relativism. The scripture from Isaiah 5:20 is a stern warning against moral confusion. It is a caution against the distortion of moral values, against the practice of calling evil good and good evil. This is a phenomenon we see all too often in our world today, where moral boundaries are blurred, and the line between right and wrong becomes increasingly ambiguous.

This scripture is not merely a warning: It’s also a call to action. It is a call for us to be discerning, to be vigilant, and to stand firm in our convictions. It is a call for us to be the light in the darkness, to be the voice of truth in a world where truth is often distorted or ignored. It is a call for us to be the salt of the earth, preserving the moral fabric of our society and preventing it from decaying.

A call to personal responsibility: We are accountable for our actions and our decisions. We cannot simply go along with the crowd or follow the popular opinion. We must make our own moral judgments, based on the Word of God, and we must be prepared to stand by these judgments, even when they are unpopular or controversial.

Spiritual discernment: We cannot rely solely on our human understanding or our worldly wisdom. We need the guidance of the Holy Spirit to discern the truth, to distinguish between good and evil, and to make wise and godly decisions. We need to be in constant communion with God, seeking His wisdom and guidance in all things.

A call to moral courage: We must be willing to stand up for what is right, even when it is difficult or unpopular. We must be willing to speak out against evil, even when it is disguised as good. We must be willing to challenge the status quo, to question the prevailing moral standards, and to advocate for truth and justice.

Not just relevant to our personal lives: It also has implications for our society and our world. It is a reminder that we must be vigilant against the forces of moral relativism and secularism that seek to distort the truth and blur the lines between good and evil. It is a reminder that we must stand firm in our convictions and resist the pressure to conform to the world's standards.
