I. Power

A. ‘Hand of the Lord’

1. Isaiah 59:1, “Behold, the LORD’S hand is not

shortened, that it cannot save; Nor His ear

heavy, That it cannot hear”

2. 1 Chronicles 4:9-10 “Your hand would be with me”

3. Acts 11:21, “And the hand of the Lord was with

them, and a great number believed and turned to

the Lord”

B. Another description: ‘Fullness of Holy Spirit’

1. Luke 1:15b (said of John the Baptist), “He will also

be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his

mother’s womb”

2. Luke 1:41 – Elizabeth was filled with the Holy

Spirit and praised God

3. Luke 1:67 – Zacharias was filled with the Holy

Spirit and prophesied

4. Luke 2:25 – Simeon – HS was upon him and gave him

special insight

5. Luke 4:1 – Jesus was filled with the HS and enabled to

withstand temptation

6. Acts 1:8, “But you shall receive power when the Holy

Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to

Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to

the end of the earth”

II. Prospect

A. Great Commission – Enlarge territory

B. Prayer Meeting – ‘Your hand be with me’

C. Result – ‘spoke with boldness’

III. Process

A. Command: Ephesians 5:18

B. Literal: “Be not soaked to excess with wine which

leads to excessive destruction, but be constantly

being diffused throughout with the Holy Spirit.”

1. Under influence of alcohol

a. Quiet man is loud

b. Shy man is boisterous

c. Neat man lets himself go

2. Under control of the Holy Spirit

a. Acts 4:13

b. Acts 5:29

c. Acts 7:51

d. Acts 9:27

C. How? Luke 11:13, “If you then, being evil, know how to give good

gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father

give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”

D. In closing it looks like this: Ephesians 6:10, “Finally, my brethren,

be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might”
