VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. Another Priest arises which made things more plainly evident

"And this becomes more plainly evident when another Priest arises"

Aaron and Levitical priesthood shortcomings:

1. Aaron came out of anger of the LORD, as a substitute for Moses

Exodus 4:14 (Amplified Bible)

4:14 Then the anger of the Lord blazed against Moses; He said, Is there not Aaron your brother, the Levite? I know he can speak well. Also, he is coming out to meet you, and when he sees you, he will be overjoyed.

2. Aaron and Moses were old and also died

Exodus 7:7 (Amplified Bible)

7:7 Now Moses was 80 years old and Aaron 83 years old when they spoke to Pharaoh.

3. Aaron can be persuaded by the people to commit idolatry, weak leadership

Exodus 32:3-4 (Amplified Bible)

32:3 So all the people took the gold rings from their ears and brought them to Aaron.

32:4 And he received the gold at their hand and fashioned it with a graving tool and made it a molten calf; and they said, These are your gods, O Israel, which brought you up out of the land of Egypt!

4. Took an oath when there were restored to service

Ezra 10:5 (Amplified Bible)

10:5 Then Ezra arose and made the chiefs of the priests, the Levites, and all Israel swear that they would do as had been said. So they took the oath.

and there are more which we can't discussed because of time.

B. This Priest bears the likeness of Melchizedek

"Who bears the likeness of Melchizedek"

Some characteristics of CHRIST's Eternal Great Priesthood are:

1. No Beginning Priesthood

Hebrews 7:3 (Amplified Bible)

7:3 Without [record of] father or mother or ancestral line, neither with beginning of days nor ending of life, but, resembling the Son of God, he continues to be a priest without interruption and without successor.

2. Perfect Priesthood not in the order or Aaron and Levites

Hebrews 7:11 (Amplified Bible)

7:11 Now if perfection (a perfect fellowship between God and the worshiper) had been attainable by the Levitical priesthood—for under it the people were given the Law—why was it further necessary that there should arise another and different kind of Priest, one after the order of Melchizedek, rather than one appointed after the order and rank of Aaron?

3. Forever Priesthood - Priesthood that is Eternal, never-ending

Psalms 110:4 (Amplified Bible)

110:4 The Lord has sworn and will not revoke or change it: You are a priest forever, after the manner and order of Melchizedek.

4. GOD took an oath

Hebrews 7:21 (Amplified Bible)

7:21 For those who formerly became priests received their office without its being confirmed by the taking of an oath by God, but this One was designated and addressed and saluted with an oath, The Lord has sworn and will not regret it or change His mind, You are a Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.

5. All other priests who have served GOD are all servants, but this Great High Priest is the Beloved Son of GOD

Luke 9:35 (Amplified Bible)

9:35 Then there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is My Son, My Chosen One or My Beloved; listen to and yield to and obey Him!

IX. CONCLUSION:

I am a royal priesthood of GOD, and CHRIST is my Great High Priest.

1 Peter 2:9 (Amplified Bible)

2:9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation, [God’s] own purchased, special people, that you may set forth the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of Him Who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.
