Summary: You Are Not Alone, You have a name, Names Matter

It says, 2 When Jesus got out of the boat, a man with an impure spirit came from the tombs to meet him. 3 This man lived in the tombs, and no one could bind him anymore, not even with a chain. 4 For he had often been chained hand and foot, but he tore the chains apart and broke the irons on his feet. No one was strong enough to subdue him. 5 Night and day among the tombs and in the hills he would cry out and cut himself with stones.

6 When he saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and fell on his knees in front of him. 7 He shouted at the top of his voice, “What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? In God’s name don’t torture me!” 8 For Jesus had said to him, “Come out of this man, you impure spirit!”

9 Then Jesus asked him, “What is your name?”

“My name is Legion,” he replied, “for we are many.” 10 And he begged Jesus again and again not to send them out of the area.

Now, Jesus cast the legion of demons out, but it's interesting he said, "My name is Legion. My name is number, 6,000 there are so many." As a matter of fact he was saying, "Every name in the Roman demonic deity and all that's going on is me. There is so many in here, I am a number." Wow! He said, "I am a number." And that's how people

feel when they are bound in sin. That's how people feel when they are in pain and struggling. You feel anonymous, like a number like this guy. He says, "I am a number. That's all I am. I am Number."

And Jesus is like, "No, you're not. Number, you get out of him! I cast you

out!" And then Jesus sets him free from the bondage of a name that he grabbed. He sets him free from the bondage of a name that he grabbed or that grabbed ahold of him.

And let me tell you this: Jesus will set you free from the names that have grabbed you in life. You are not loser, unwanted, accident, forgotten, idiot, mistake, sleaze, failure. You are none of those names. If those names have attached to you, Jesus sets you free.

I have no idea what this guy's name is, and it's probably one of the things that irritates me the most about this series is not knowing this guy's name. I wish I'd known this guy's name and they said his name was Demetrius or something. I wish we could go to heaven and meet him. He might be the only guy in heaven that will be like, "Hi, my name is Alexander."

"Hi, nice to meet you."

"You know, formerly known as Legion." You know, he might be the only guy that says that.

But Jesus set him free from the names that grabbed him, and Jesus sets you free from the names that have grabbed you. Do not let them hold you anymore. As a matter of fact, at the end of the service, if you need to be set free from a name that you have grabbed hold of or has grabbed hold of you, please see a prayer team member.

Break that name in Jesus' name. The name of Jesus will break the name that has wrongfully attached itself to you.

Now, it's amazing, with you, you have a new name. You have a new name. Revelation 2:17, it's a beautiful, beautiful scripture. 17 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give that person a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it.
