Plan for: Thanksgiving | Advent | Christmas
Now is the time to honor and mourn a life that has been lost. But it’s also a time to celebrate the hope of their reunion in eternity and the comfort that brings.
It is hard for us to lose someone we love, but I also want to remind us that there is much to take comfort in as well.
1. Comfort In Knowing Heaven Is Home
I’m comforted in knowing that Heaven is our true home. Jesus assures us of this when He said in John 14:1-6:
Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.
He tells us that our stay here on earth is only for a time and that a reunion in Heaven is guaranteed for us when our lives here on earth come to an end. Our hearts can be at ease knowing that our loved one is in a place of perfect peace and joy, absent of all pain and suffering.
