AMBASSADORS FOR CHRIST

2COR 5 VS 17-20

2 Corinthians 5:17-21 (NKJV)

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation,

19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God.

21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

**WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE AN AMBASSADOR FOR JESUS?? AS WE ENTER AN ELECTION YEAR, I HAVE PONDERED THE CANDIDATES FOR OUR NATION, AND THEN BEGAN TO THINK ABOUT WHAT DOES A TRUE REPRESENTATIVE OF OUR NATION SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE? HOW IS HE OR SHE SUPPOSED TO ACT, THINK AND DO TO BE A GOOD REPRESENTATIVE- ALL THIS LED ME TO THIS EYE OPENING PASSAGE OF SCRIPTURE THAT WE- “EACH OF US” THAT ARE CHILDREN OF GOD ARE “HIS” REPRESENTATIVES, AND I THEN BEGAN TO THINK ABOUT, HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO ACT, AND CONDUCT OURSELVES TO BE A GOOD AMBASSADOR FOR “HIM.”

1. WE NEED TO BE IN CONSTANT COMMUNICATION WITH OUR HEAVENLY FATHER- “PRAYER”

*THERE ARE SO MANY EXAMPLES IN SCRIPTURE THAT WE CAN FOLLOW AND HERE ARE JUST A FEW- AND THE NAMES I KNOW THAT YOU WILL RECOGNIZE:

A. DANIEL:

Daniel 2:16-23 (NKJV)

16 So Daniel went in and asked the king to give him time, that he might tell the king the interpretation.

17 Then Daniel went to his house, and made the decision known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions,

18 that they might seek mercies from the God of heaven concerning this secret, so that Daniel and his companions might not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.

19 Then the secret was revealed to Daniel in a night vision. So Daniel blessed the God of heaven.

20 Daniel answered and said: "Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, For wisdom and might are His.

21 And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise And knowledge to those who have understanding.

22 He reveals deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, And light dwells with Him.

23 "I thank You and praise You, O God of my fathers; You have given me wisdom and might, And have now made known to me what we asked of You, For You have made known to us the king's demand."

Daniel 6:10 (NKJV)

10 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. And in his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days.

B. JESUS- IF JESUS NEEDED TO PRAY, DON’T YOU THINK WE NEED TO ALSO?:

Luke 5:12-16 (NKJV)

12 And it happened when He was in a certain city, that behold, a man who was full of leprosy saw Jesus; and he fell on his face and implored Him, saying, "Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean."

13 Then He put out His hand and touched him, saying, "I am willing; be cleansed." Immediately the leprosy left him.

14 And He charged him to tell no one, "But go and show yourself to the priest, and make an offering for your cleansing, as a testimony to them, just as Moses commanded."

15 However, the report went around concerning Him all the more; and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by Him of their infirmities.

16 So He Himself often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed.

Luke 6:12 (NKJV)

12 Now it came to pass in those days that He went out to the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.

Matthew 26:36 (NKJV)

36 Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to the disciples, "Sit here while I go and pray over there."

Luke 9:18 (NKJV)

18 And it happened, as He was alone praying, that His disciples joined Him, and He asked them, saying, "Who do the crowds say that I am?"

Luke 9:28 (NKJV)

28 Now it came to pass, about eight days after these sayings, that He took Peter, John, and James and went up on the mountain to pray.
