All That The Father Giveth Me
(John 6:37-40)
37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
Intro.
I don’t know if this hits you like it does me? How marvelous to know that everyone that God the Father has chosen shall come to Jesus Christ. It is not hoping that this one or that one shall come but a divine guarentee that everyone that has been chosen shall come.
I. The Exclusiveness Of Divine Grace:
There is but one way of salvation, that is through and by our Lord Jesus Christ.
1. He Is Saying The Only Way One Can Have Salvation Is Through Jesus:
He declared in, Jn. 14:6, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
Luke the writer of the book of Acts wrote, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Acts 4:12
After we read these words, can anyone say, I don’t think it is necessary to trust in Jesus Christ.
John 3:18, He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
John 5:23, “That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.”
Mark 16:16, He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
With all this said, wewant to drop back to the Father,
John 6:44, “No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.” (draw much stronger)
None can come to Christ except they have life. Dead men cannot come to someone. When Jesus called for Lazarus to come forth, he had to give unto him life. It was not a dead man that came forth from the tomb, but one that had been dead but was now alive. What a glorious picture of our salvation.
2. Turning From All Confidence In Self And Others:
To come to one person we must turn away from others. To come to Jesus we must turn away from the world, we must turn away from self, we must stop serving Satan. Jesus said, “You cannot serve God and mammon.”
To come to Christ is to trust Him for our salvation, when God gives us life he points us toward the Captain of our salvation. He that has paid the ransom to redeem us. We must stop trusting in self, most people believe their lives are pretty good, until they meet that One Who is altogether perfect.
3. This Is The Words Of Christ Jesus:
“Shall come unto Me” He did not say he that believes a particular doctrine, nor he that joins a particular church, or denomination. Nor did He say, he that comes to a preacher, but “they shall come to Me.” Only in the last few years have I ever heard anyone say, that men could have eternal life without trusting or coming to Jesus Christ.
4. Who Is This Who Called Jesus?:
The eternal Son of the eternal Father, He it was Who stepped down from glory to be born of a virgin, that He might grow to adulthood, and be crucified for you and I. He declared Himself to be God, He said, I and the Father are one. He said, if you have seen Me you have seen the Father.
Who is He? He is the creator of all things, John 1:3, All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. The Apostle Paul in his letter to the Colosee church, said, For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. Col 1:16-17
This is He that walked with Adam in the cool of the evening, this is He Who spoke with Abraham. It was He Who walked out into the emptiness of space and said “Let the earth be formed from nothing and it was so.” He could thrust His Hand heavenward and scatter stars across the vastness of this universe, like diamonds on a jewelers cloth. It was He who scooped up earth and molded the shape of man, and breathed into his nostrils and he became a living soul.
