Explore the truth in Galatians 2:20 about living a life of faith in Jesus, obedience to God's Word, and dedication to the Kingdom of God, emphasizing the unique position of believers to demonstrate God's grace in the world.
Good morning, beloved family of Christ. Today, we're going to dive into a profound verse that is bursting with truth and wisdom about what it means to live a life of faith in Jesus, a life of obedience to God's Word, and a life of dedication to the Kingdom of God.
There's a powerful quote from Gordon MacDonald that says, "The world can do almost anything as well as or better than the church. You need not be a Christian to build houses, feed the hungry, or heal the sick. There is only one thing the world cannot do. It cannot offer grace." This statement beautifully aligns with our topic today, and it reminds us that we, as believers, hold a unique position in this world to demonstrate the grace of God through our lives.
Our scripture for today comes from Galatians 2:20.
"I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."
Let's bow our heads in prayer as we begin.
Dear Heavenly Father, we come before you today with open hearts and minds. We ask for Your guidance as we delve into Your Word. Help us to fully grasp the depth of these truths, and may You empower us to live lives of faith, obedience, and dedication to Your Kingdom. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Living a life of faith in Jesus is not merely about believing in His existence or acknowledging His role as Savior. It is about allowing Him to take the helm of our lives, guiding our decisions, shaping our values, and influencing our actions. It is about entrusting our lives to Him, confident in His love for us and His plan for our lives.
Recognizing our own limitations and inadequacies: We are finite beings with limited understanding and capabilities. We make mistakes, we stumble, and we fall. But Jesus, being God Himself, is infinite in His wisdom and power. He sees the bigger picture that we often miss. He knows what's best for us even when we don't. By putting our faith in Him, we are essentially saying, "Lord, I trust Your judgment more than mine. I trust Your plan more than my own."
Being willing to step out of our comfort zones: It means being willing to take risks for His sake. It means being willing to go where He leads, even if it's into the unknown. It means being willing to stand up for what's right, even if it means standing alone. It means being willing to sacrifice our own desires and ambitions for the sake of His Kingdom.
A daily surrender: It is a daily decision to die to ourselves, to our own wants and desires, and to live for Him. It is a daily decision to pick up our cross and follow Him, no matter where He leads. It is a daily decision to say, "Not my will, but Yours be done."
A lifelong journey: It is a journey filled with highs and lows, with victories and defeats, with joys and sorrows. But through it all, we can have the assurance that Jesus is with us every step of the way. He is our constant companion, our faithful guide, and our steadfast anchor.
Don’t need to have all the answers: It is about trusting Him even when we don't understand. It is about believing in His promises even when we can't see the fulfillment. It is about holding on to His truth even when we are surrounded by lies. It is about clinging to His hope even when we are engulfed in despair.
Not about perfection: It is about progress. It is about growing in our relationship with Him. It is about becoming more like Him. It is about allowing Him to transform us from the inside out.
An active pursuit: It is about seeking Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. It is about striving to know Him more, to love Him more, and to serve Him more. It is about making Him the center of our lives, the object of our affection, and the purpose of our existence. It’s a life that truly matters, a life that makes a difference, a life that leaves a lasting legacy.
Pastor, here would be a good place to share a personal story about how trusting in Jesus has changed your life. What was life like before and what’s it like now, after?
Living a life of obedience to God's Word is not merely about following a set of rules or regulations; it's about aligning our hearts, minds, and actions with the will of God as revealed in His Word ... View this full PRO sermon free with PRO
