Plan for: Thanksgiving | Advent | Christmas

Sermons

Summary: we should all be like the evergreen and have the Holy Spirit active in our lives all year around.

The Christmas tree is found in the homes of almost every person in America, so I would like to talk about the meaning of the Christmas tree, as I see it.

Read: Matthew 5:14-16

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.

[15] Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

[16] Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father, which is in heaven.

The sap is the soul of the tree.

The bark is the outward appearance of the tree that preserves the sap.

The Holy Spirit is the life soul of the Christian.

The actions of the Christian are bark that preserves the witness of the Holy Spirit.

Most trees draw their sap down to the roots in the winter and lay dormant for a period of time, but not the evergreen.

Its sap runs active all year around.

A lot of Christians draws the Holy Spirit down deep inside themselves and lay dormant.

But we should all be like the evergreen and have the Holy Spirit active in our lives all year around.
