To fulfill the Great Commission, we need to align ourselves with God's plans, be patient and obedient, understanding that the process is just as important as the results.

Youth Sermon: Alignment

The Great Commission and Obedience

Imagine you're on a massive ship, cruising along, and you get a message from a lighthouse saying, 'Change your course, or you'll crash!' But you're like, 'Nah, you move.' Funny, right? But that's what we do when we ignore God's directions and do things our way.

Now, let's talk about something Jesus told us to do. It's called the Great Commission. He said, 'Go and make disciples of all nations.' But sometimes, we're like, 'Yeah, but what's in it for me?' We want instant results, like a fast food drive-thru. But that's not how it works.

There was this guy, John Nevius, who went to Korea in 1890. People weren't exactly rolling out the red carpet for him. But he stuck with it, and because of his obedience, we now have a massive church movement in Korea.

We need to stop looking for the payoff and start focusing on obedience.

Kairos and Aligning with God's Plans

Now, let's talk about 'Kairos.' It's a fancy word that means a moment when God gives us a chance to get in line with His plans. It's like when your favorite song comes on, and you just have to dance. Jesus and His crew lived on Kairos time. They were always ready to change their plans when God said so.

So, how do we get in line with God's plans? Here are some ideas: Listen to God and do what He says. Be flexible. Sometimes, God's plans don't fit into our schedules. Don't just focus on countries, focus on specific groups of people. Remember, we're part of a bigger picture. Have a vision to complete the Great Commission. Do your homework. Understand the people you're reaching out to. Focus on starting churches that can start other churches. Think like a farmer, not a factory worker. It's all about preparation.

So, what does this mean for you? Maybe it means being patient with that friend you've been praying for. Maybe it means stepping out of your comfort zone and joining a mission trip. Or maybe it means changing your plans when God tells you to.
