Summary: God turn those bitter life experiences into sweet ones.
Diligence which is concerned with Moses? attitude to his assignment.
What assignment has God given you in your family?
What assignment or duty has God given you in this church?
What assignment or duty has God given to you, in your community?
Who are you called to bring from one point to the other?
How diligent have you been your or duty assignment? Have you abandon it?
God wants you to be diligent like Moses.
Verse 22-No Water
The Israelites have just left a massive pool of water, 3 days ago where they witnessed the miracle of God that parted the Red Sea.
In life’s journey, time of dryness may arise. It could be spiritual dryness, financial dryness, job dryness, dryness of the womb?
Verse 23-Bitterness
Everyone has to guard against bitterness creeping into their hearts. A lot of things in life have the potential to make us bitter. Family problems, marriage stresses, rejection, past abuses, loneliness, misunderstanding, conflicts, church problems, sicknesses, death of loved ones, and the list could go on.
It is God who can take the bitterness of the death of a loved one, the bitterness of family relationship problems, the bitterness of severe illness, the bitterness of losing your income and the bitterness of having yielded to temptation and make those experiences to become sweet.
Persimmon-I ate a persimmon that wasn’t ripe, even though it looked good it was bitter, my mouth puckered up and I couldn’t get that taste out of my mouth! When they are ripe they are so good and sweet!
Those ones who had taken a taste before when it was so bitter, had to drink it again, but this time they found it to be sweet and refreshing!
You may need to take a chance again!
In a relationship or relationships, at a new job or at your old job, letting Christ make it sweet!!!
Verse 24-Complained
Most of us complain a lot, maybe about our spouses, our children, our jobs, our country, even about church!
How bad is life when you got one person complaining in your life? Poor Moses from 20,000 to half a million people complaining how bad is that?
Verse 25-A Tree
1 Peter 2:24-who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness?by whose stripes you were healed.
Purifies it-One commentary says the type of tree it was purified the water
Our healing is not in the tree (cross), but in Him who was on the tree.
God takes our life, just like the water was unusable so had been our life before we accepted Christ into our life, once we have accepted Him as our Savior, our life can be useful!
Verse 26-Listen
A lot of troubles come upon us because we did not listen to God!
Some people don’t even take time to ask God for help!
Verse 27-Twelve springs and seventy palm trees!
God not only gave them relief at Marah but He gave them rest at Elim.
