I. Saul took matters into his own hands and didn’t repent when confronted

II. David took matters into his own hands and fell on his face before God when confronted

a.

I. David Had An Attitude Of Penitence.

1 John 1:8-10 NASB If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. (9) If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (10) If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.

II. David Had An Attitude Of Worship.

Psalms 103:1-5 NASB A Psalm of David. Bless the LORD, O my soul, And all that is within me, bless His holy name. (2) Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget none of His benefits; (3) Who pardons all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases; (4) Who redeems your life from the pit, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion; (5) Who satisfies your years with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle.

III. David Had An Attitude Of Service.

This was characteristic of David’s life.

**As a lad, he faithfully tended his father’s sheep.

**He fought against Goliath, defeating him and winning victory for God’s people.

**As king he looked for ways to serve God and his fellow man.
