Plan for: Thanksgiving | Advent | Christmas
Encourages understanding and embodying Jesus' teachings of truth, justice, and joy, guided by the wisdom and love of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Good morning, dear congregation. As we gather here today, we find ourselves in the comforting embrace of our shared faith, in the heartening presence of our Lord Jesus Christ. We stand together, on the precipice of understanding, looking towards the horizon of enlightenment that our faith promises us.
We are here to discuss a passage of profound importance, a passage that encapsulates the very essence of our faith, the very essence of Jesus Christ. The passage is John 18:37, which reads:
"You are a king, then!" said Pilate. Jesus answered, "You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me."
In this passage, we see the embodiment of Jesus' purpose, his justice, and his joy. These are not mere words, but fundamental truths that guide our lives, truths that we strive to understand and embody in our daily lives.
As we embark on this understanding, let us remember the words of J.I. Packer, who once said, "The life of true holiness is rooted in the soil of awed adoration." We are here to adore, to admire, and to aspire towards the life that Jesus has so beautifully laid out for us.
Let us not just read these words, but understand them, internalize them, and let them guide our actions. Let us not just speak of Jesus' journey, but follow in his footsteps. Let us not just speak of Jesus' justice, but strive to embody it in our lives. Let us not just speak of Jesus' joy, but let it fill our hearts and minds.
As we stand at the threshold of this understanding, let us take a moment to pray.
Dear Lord, we come before you today with open hearts and open minds. We seek to understand your word, to follow your teachings, and to embody your love in our lives. We ask for your guidance, for your wisdom, and for your strength as we embark on this path of understanding. We ask that you fill our hearts with the joy of your love, the justice of your teachings, and the truth of your word. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
Let’s get started!
As we reflect on the passage from John 18:37, we are drawn to the profound purpose of Jesus' existence. His birth into this world was not a random occurrence, but a divine plan to bear witness to the truth. This truth is not a mere collection of facts or data, but a deep, spiritual reality that transcends our human understanding.
Jesus' birth, life, and death were all part of a divine plan: He was born to bear witness to the truth, lived to exemplify it, and died to affirm it. His entire existence was a testament to this truth. And this truth is not just about him being a king, as Pilate suggested, but about a much deeper, spiritual reality.
The divine nature of Jesus: He was not just a man, but the Son of God. He was not just a king, but the King of Kings. His divine nature is a fundamental aspect of the truth he came to bear witness to. This is not just a theological assertion, but a spiritual reality that has profound implications for our lives.
The sacrificial love of Jesus: He did not just come to rule, but to serve. He did not just come to live, but to die. His sacrificial love is a fundamental aspect of the truth he came to bear witness to. This is not just a historical event, but a spiritual reality that has profound implications for our lives.
The transformative power of Jesus: He did not just come to teach, but to transform. He did not just come to inform, but to empower. His transformative power is a fundamental aspect of the truth he came to bear witness to. This is not just a theological concept, but a spiritual reality that has profound implications for our lives.
The eternal reign of Jesus: He did not just come to die, but to rise again. He did not just come to serve, but to reign. His eternal reign is a fundamental aspect of the truth he came to bear witness to. This is not just a prophetic prediction, but a spiritual reality that has profound implications for our lives.
In the realm of Jesus' justice, we find ourselves immersed in a sea of righteousness, a sea that is both vast and deep ... View this full PRO sermon free with PRO
