Summary: Pride is always a hinderance to spiritual growth…and often our pride takes us into places that we wouldn’t normally go and allows us to pretend to overlook the trash on the front porch of our life

Admitting You Need To Clean Your Porch

1 John 2:15-17

15 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. 16 For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. 17 The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.

Pride is always a hinderance to spiritual growth…and often our pride takes us into places that we wouldn’t normally go and allows us to pretend to overlook the trash on the front porch of our life…it is this front porch that people see when they come to visit us as we walk around in our daily lives…we carry our lifestyle with us everywhere…

A young lady once went to Will Rogers for counseling and said, “Mr. Rogers, what can I do about pride? Every time I look in the mirror, I think I’m beautiful.” Will Rogers replied, “Honey, that’s not pride, that’s a mistake!”
