Summary: This book should be called the acts of the Holy Spirit

THE BOOK OF ACTS - LESSON # l

ACTS 1:1 - ACTS OF THE APOSTLES

Should be called “Acts of the Holy Spirit.”

The author is Luke who was a Physician or doctor

vs. 1 - Treatise is a manuscript of the book of Luke.

Theophilus is the Greek word for Timothy

Jesus was the Master Teacher. He began to both do and teach.

Jesus now operates through the Holy Spirit.

This Book of Acts is known as the dispensation of the church

vs. 2 - “Take up” refers to the asension Mark 16:19, Luke 24:51

Jesus is now operating through the Holy Spirit

The commandments are more than the Ten Commanments.

What are some of the commandments Jesus gave besides the Ten

Commandments?

Love your enemies

Do good to those who persecute you

Remember the widows and orphans

Remember the Lord’s supper

The disciples are now called Apostles

Disciple means follower

Apostle means one who is sent

“After His passion”, Jesus constantly showed them His scares

Infallible proofs cannot be denied

Jesus was with them forty days.

He spoke to them of things pertaining to the kingdom God.

Fifteen things Jesus discussed with His Apostles:

(1. Bodily resurrection

(2. His rightful authority

(3. World-wide commission to preach the Gospel.

(4. water baptism

(5. Observance of all commandments

(6. Age-long Gospel program.

(7. Signs and wonders of the Gospel

(8. True prophets

(9. Necessary suffering

(10. Asension

(11. The central theme of the Gospel

(12. The reality of resurrected bodies.

(13. Literal fulfillment of Scriptures.

(14. The Baptism in the Holy Spirit

(15. The New Testament program for the church

vs. 4 - The Commandment Jesus gave them was to wait and tarry.

vs. 5 - The similarity between John’s water baptism and the Baptism of

Holy Ghost.

“Not many days hence.” This refers to God having a time

schedule.

vs. 6 & 7 - The Apostles wanted to know when He would restore the Kingdom of Israel. He said, “It is not for you to know the times or the seasons the Father hath put in His own power”.
