Summary: Paul’s Defense before Agrippa
“Paul relates what is the third account of his conversion on the Damascus (Syrian capital) road in the book of Acts, and in it he emphasized his call to evangelize the Gentiles and ‘18 to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Me.’“
v. 14 “Hebrew dialect” is Aramaic
Gentiles are the non-Jews.
Sanctify per https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/sanctify is “to set apart to a sacred purpose or to religious use; consecrate; to free from sin, purify
28 Agrippa replied to Paul, “In a short time you are going to persuade me to make a Christian of myself. 29 And Paul said, “I would [v]wish to God that even [w]in a short or long time not only you, but also all who hear me this day would become such as I myself am, except for these chains.”
May we be able to persuade people to become followers of Jesus as well.
“Both Festus and Agrippa agreed that Paul was innocent and that if he had not appealed to Caesar he could have gone free. But, as we know, it was God’s will that Paul go to Rome, and even if the conditions were not what he would have wished, he was ready for the trip.”
