Summary: Loving the world more than we love God.

A YOUNG MAN LOST

MATTHEW 19:16-30

1. He had a character out of this world.

Great riches strong social standing normal life comfortable living.

His conscious was in need he was lost.

He did not know the Lord.

2. He sought the right thing.

He had the best of life .

He knew there was something yet he needed.

His conscious lead him to know he needed eternal life.

He was a strong manly man.

He came boldly to the Lord and sought this blessing.

3. He found a marvelous Christ.

Christ heard his appeal and was sympathetic.

Christ loved him and wanted to lead him in the right way.

If only he would listen and obey.

4. He discovered a deadly sin.

Covetousness

Love for his money

Paul declares it to be and idol.

Ephesians 5: 4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.

5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

He could not find the power to turn loose.

5 . Wrong decision he made.

Choosing between money are the Master.

His choose was wrong.

Because of it he made the wrong choose the master loosed him.

He closed his eyes to the light

He did not let Christ conquer it for him.

He rejected eternal for worldly gain.

He turned down God’s infinite reward.
