VI. TITLE:

A wise man scales and brings down

VII. EXPLICATION:

A. Authors: Credited generally to King Solomon before his character downfall/decline.

B. Date written: from 931 to 686 B.C.

C. Purpose: To give moral instruction

D. Main Theme: Fear of the LORD

VIII. MAIN BODY:

Who is a wise man? A wise man has been defined as:

Proverbs 29:26 (Amplified Bible)

29:26 Many crave and seek the ruler’s favor, but the wise man [waits] for justice from the Lord.

Luke 12:42-44 (Amplified Bible)

12:42 And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful steward, the wise man whom his master will set over those in his household service to supply them their allowance of food at the appointed time?

12:43 Blessed (happy and to be envied) is that servant whom his master finds so doing when he arrives.

12:44 Truly I tell you, he will set him in charge over all his possessions.

A. A wise man can defeat a city full of the mighty

"A wise man scales the city walls of the mighty"

Wise or "chakam" in Hebrew which means:

1. wise - intelligent, skilful or artful

2. cunning, wise-hearted

Scaleth or "alah" in Hebrew which means:

1. to ascend

2. to bring up

3. to carry up

Mighty or "gibbor gibbor" in Hebrew which means:

1. powerful

2. by implication: a warrior, tyrant

3. champion, chief, excel, giant, man, mighty (man, one), strong (man), valiant man

Ecclesiastes 7:19 (Amplified Bible)

7:19 [True] wisdom is a strength to the wise man more than ten rulers or valiant generals who are in the city.

Ecclesiastes 9:13-18 (Amplified Bible)

9:13 This [illustration of] wisdom have I seen also under the sun, and it seemed great to me:

9:14 There was a little city with few men in it. And a great king came against it and besieged it and built great bulwarks against it.

9:15 But there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city. Yet no man [seriously] remembered that poor man.

9:16 But I say that wisdom is better than might, though the poor man’s wisdom is despised and his words are not heeded.

9:17 The words of wise men heard in quiet are better than the shouts of him who rules among fools.

9:18 Wisdom is better than weapons of war, but one sinner destroys much good.

B. A wise man can bring down stronghold.

"and brings down the stronghold in which they trust"

Casteth down or "yarad" in Hebrew which means:

1. to descend

2. to bring down

3. carry down

4. cast down

5. hang down

6. put down

7. run down, sink, subdue, take down

Strength or "oz oz" in Hebrew which means: strength in various applications (force, security, majesty, praise): - boldness, loud, might, power, strength, strong.

Confidence or "mibtach" in Hebrew which means: a refuge, security, assurance, confidence, hope, sure, trust.

IX. CONCLUSION:

Even as I am I can defeat a city full of soldiers and I can bring low the strength of the proud. JESUS in me has done all these things.

1 John 5:4 (Amplified Bible)

5:4 For whatever is born of God is victorious over the world; and this is the victory that conquers the world, even our faith.

1 John 4:4 (Amplified Bible)

4:4 Little children, you are of God [you belong to Him] and have [already] defeated and overcome them [the agents of the antichrist], because He Who lives in you is greater (mightier) than he who is in the world.

John 15:7 (Amplified Bible)

15:7 If you live in Me [abide vitally united to Me] and My words remain in you and continue to live in your hearts, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you.

Praise, worship and thank You very much LORD JESUS, for You live in me and Your WORDS remain in me and continue to live in my heart, I can ask whatever I will and it shall be done for me by the faith that overcomes in me.
