Summary: Shouldn’t people be able to tell we are Christians by our walk and the way we conduct our lives?

Genesis 5:21-24-Enoch lived sixty-five years, and begot Methuselah.

After he begot Methuselah, Enoch walked with God three hundred years, and had sons and daughters.

So all the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty-five years.

And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.

Since Monday is Veterans day, I thought these jokes might be appropriate:

As he was drilling a batch of recruits, the sergeant saw that one of them was marching out of step. Walking up next to the man as they marched, he said sarcastically: "Do you know they are all out of step except you?"

"What?" asked the recruit innocently.

"I said - they are all out of step except you!" thundered the sergeant.

The recruit replied, "Well, Sarge, you're in charge - you tell them!"

I am afraid, that there are to many people marching to their own drummer, and they are out of step with God!!

And I believe they think God should be in step with them, instead of them being in step with Him.

Two men were walking through a downtown area. One of the men pointed to a passing stranger who was walking down the street and said, “That man is a soldier.”

“How do you know,” asked the friend, “seeing as he is in civilian clothes?”

The first man replied, “I can always tell a soldier by the way he walks.”

Shouldn’t people be able to tell we are Christians by our walk and the way we conduct our lives?

When parents are expecting, one of the big events that happens is when the child is born!

The next big event in most case is for the child to walk, if a child doesn’t walk in a certain period of time, then parents become concerned.

If a child crawls everywhere, true it may get everywhere it wants to go, but we all know that there is something wrong, if that child doesn’t began to walk.

It is the same way in the spiritual realm, we can’t hardly wait till someone gets saved, but we become concerned if that person doesn’t walk with the Lord closely, or turns away from walking with the Lord!

Another thing I want to point out, is that, we can’t hardly wait for that child to take it’s first step, and usually it will take a step or two and fall down, then there may some time elapse between that time and the next time that it lets go of something.

Two things we should recognize from this is:

1-Yes, that first step is important! (Asking Jesus in to their heart, is a important step) but there must be other steps to follow, before that child can learn to walk!

2-A child may take a step then fall, but sooner or later after many attempts, the child begins to learn how to walk.

This is a lesson to learn for all of us….For many of us, it takes many attempts for us to begin to walk closely with the Lord!

So if you fall, then get right back up!

Just like a child, (Some start walking as early as 6 months and as old as one year) we all start walking in life at different times, some start their spiritual walk early in life and others have started their walk late in their life.

I was walking Tyler, he is going to be two years old in Nov!

We were going into the store and his mama went to hold his hand because the parking lot was busy. He pulled his hand free from her, showing he was a big boy, he wanted to walk on his own.

We have the same tendencies, instead of clinging to our Father's hand, we take off on our own!

Another thing I noticed was that there was a lot of different things that caught his attention!

There was car with a loud exhaust, a piece of paper on the ground, a different direction than mama and papa was going, and he pulls away to go in the direction of what has got his attention!!

We to are bad about that, we let the cares of the world, are anything that glimmers and gets our attention and we pull away from Him, instead of clinging to Him!!

Isaiah 42:5-6-Thus says God the Lord, Who created the heavens and stretched them out, Who spread forth the earth and that which comes from it, Who gives breath to the people on it, And spirit to those who walk on it: “I, the Lord, have called You in righteousness, And will hold Your hand; I will keep You and give You as a covenant to the people, As a light to the Gentiles,

Psalm 16:8-I have set the Lord always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.
