Summary: THE PSALMIST, DAVID, EXPRESSES DIVINE AUTHORITY OVER HIS LIFE.

A SERVANT LEADER

OBSERVATION: THE PSALMIST IN THIS STUDY CONVEYS THE REALITY OF DIVINE AUTHORITY OVER HIS LIFE.

INTERPRETATION: PSALMS 86: 2 (NKJV) PRESERVE MY LIFE, FOR I AM HOLY; YOU ARE MY GOD; SAVE YOUR SERVANT WHO TRUSTS IN YOU! PSALMS 86:2 (THE BOOK) PROTECT ME, FOR I AM DEVOTED TO YOU. SAVE ME, FOR I SERVE YOU AND TRUST YOU. YOU ARE MY GOD.

THE PSALMIST RECOGNIZED GOD ALONE AS THE PRESERVER OF HIS LIFE. HE PLACED HIS CARE, TRUST AND CONFIDENCE IN THIS REALITY.

THE PHRASE, FOR I AM HOLY, CONVEYED THE REALITY HE WAS FAVORED OF GOD. THIS DOES NOT APPEAR DAVID WAS BRAGGADOCIOS. HE APPEARS TO RECOGNIZE GOD WORKING THROUGH HIM. BELIEVERS MUST EMBRACE THE SAME REALITY. 1 PETER 1: 15, (NKJV) BUT AS HE WHO CALLED YOU IS HOLY, YOU ALSO BE HOLY IN ALL YOUR CONDUCT.

PSALMS 31: 14 (NKJV) BUT AS FOR ME, I TRUST IN YOU, O LORD; I SAY, YOU ARE MY GOD. THE PSALMIST LAMENTED OVER HIS PASS LIFESTYLE. HE DID EMBRACE THE REALITY THAT GOD WAS HIS ONLY HOPE FOR SURVIVAL.

READ PSALMS 25:2, 20.

HOPE BEGINS WITH SUBMITTING ONESELF FULLY TO THE PROTECTION OF GOD (QUOTE VANGEMEREN).

APPLICATION: A SERVANT LEADER IN THE CHURCH MUST LEAD BY EXAMPLE. THIS REQUIRES ABSOLUTE YIELDING TO GOD’S AUTHORITY BASED UPON HIS WORD.
