A Refill

Summary: Sometimes we need to get refilled up on the Holy Ghost!
A Refill
Acts 4:31
Taking up where we left off last week, we have found Peter and John being released from their imprisonment, to which they received for preaching the Gospel, and doing signs and wonders in Jesus’ name. After being released, they came to their own company, and told them what had happened. They then began to cry out in prayer about the situation. After praying, the place was shaken where they were, and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and spake the word of God with boldness.
We talked last week about the baptism in the H.G. But, I want to go one step further now and talk about refilling. NOTICE, it says they were all “filled with the H.G.”. Now, these 2 men were already filled on the Day of Pentecost in the upper room in Jerusalem. But, it says now they were filled again. And on and on through their story, they were filled again and again.
I am afraid that some of us are living on an experience, whether it was 1 week ago, or 20 years ago. Some people may not have even felt the anointing of the Holy Ghost all week, even after getting filled up last week. But, we need to stay filled. And, the only way to do that is to get refilled.
TELL STORY OF LEAKERS: 5gal. bags of milk.
POINT: you may not look like you are getting empty, but if you don’t have that spirit working in you just as much now as you did when you left Sun. night, you need to get back under the fountain.
Jer. 2:13= “for my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broking cisterns, that can hold no water.”
**some of you may have gotten away from the fountain. And some have allowed yourself to become broken vessels that have leaked out the glory. Either way, you better get back under the source, and get it sealed up within you.
There are 3 steps to getting a refilling
(1)assemble together with other believers
Bible says when they were released, they came to their own company. These were ones that believed in the power of God, and worked in the Spirit. They didn’t want to do anything before they got back with them.
-We need to get with some folks that have got the goods. One of the biggest enemies of our spiritual dynamics is a person who don’t believe in the Spirit, and down trods everything that concerns it. But, we need to get with some folks who believe in the power, and fellowship with them. People full of the spirit will elevate you. AND, when the altar call is given, get in with some folks that have the power. Don’t just be a by-stander.
(2)they prayed
Isn’t it amazing that they didn’t preach a sermon here, sing a song, or give a testimony. I still believe you can’t replace the anointing that comes in a Holy Ghost prayer meeting. When people start pouring it out to God, and He starts moving amongst them. Prayer is the only way God is going to respond to the need for a move of His Spirit. We need to pray earnestly for Him to refill us, those around us, and the whole church.
(3)they spake the word of God with boldness
In other words, when the Spirit moved on them, they let it manifest itself.
I Thess. 5:19 “Quench not the Spirit.” Don’t hold back. Let Him move through you. Whatever He moves you to do, yield to it. Let Him have his way. What He is doing is letting everyone know that it is the genuine power of God on you. Release yourself, and you will be touched.
We all have memories. But, we need relationship, not just experience.
