Summary: Salvation is free to all who will except him as Lord.

A QUESTION WHICH GOD CAN NOT ANSWER

Hebrews 2

1Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.

2For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;

3How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

The fact that Jehovah is God makes it impossible for him to do some things

God cannot sin

God cannot change

God can not lie

God cannot save a man against his own will

God cannot answer the question in Hebrews 2:3

There are three eternal truths in Hebrews 2:3

1. A GREAT SALVATION HAS BEEN PROVIDED

“So great a salvation”

A great God planed it.

Gen.3: 15And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Acts 2: 23Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:

A great price was paid for it

1st Peter 1: 18Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;

19But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

What it cost the father to us a chance to be saved: the blood of a murdered God.

2. THIS GREAT SALVATION CAN BE NEGLECTED

“If we neglect”

It can be neglected by Christians. Hebrews addressed to Christians

“How shall we escape?”

It can be neglected by refusing the claims of Christ

It can be neglected by substitution. There is nothing just as good.

Acts 4: 12Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

It can be neglected by procrastination

Acts 24: 25And as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee.

3. NEGLECT MUST BE PUNISHED

“How shall we escape?”

The only reason God cannot answer there is no answer

The doom of the neglector

Luke 16: 15And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.

Remember God is love mercy, justice

It would not be justice to give the neglector the same reward as the faithful saint.

This is a great salvation that Christ gave us.

You should not neglect it.

A great price was paid for our salvation planed by a great God .

Accept him now while there is still time.
