1. She had heard & received His Words

2. “Come Unto Me” – she came & sat at His feet

3. “I will give you rest” – nothing else mattered

4. “ Die & third day rise” – only one who believed

B. Delicate

1. quietly stood to feet- no loudness/showboating

2. Lovingly she anointed – not for life>death

C. Desperate

1. Never again be in her home – 3 days on a cross

2. soon too late – live with should haves & could haves

3. thank God when love compelled her she flew to task

2. EXPRESSIVE LOVE

A. Powerful “having an alabaster box”

1. Saved for death – used it for life; send flowers before

2. Others there loved – but she acted

3. No constraint; no shallow emotionalism

a. ever noticed funeral -loved & did least act the most!

B. Public “sat at the table”

1. wrong place – wrong time – wrong action

2. “never done it that way before”

3. “you can’t do that here”

4. Cold Water Committee would have put her fire out

3. EXTRAVAGANT LOVE

A. Expensive “300 denarii”

3. Perhaps for Simon the Leper/Lazarus- no longer need

B. Expressive “and she broke it”

1. Honored guest – broke glass used – no one of lesser

2. “I GIVE MY ALL”

3. Jesus sat there and luxuriated in all that love!

C. Exclusive “and poured it on His head”

1. She loved Simon – but not like Jesus

she loved Lazarus … she loved Mary …

2. A love she could share with no other

a. shameful of doing nothing mad at those doing

3. Criticism vs. 5

a. Judas said waste, Jesus said Wonderful

b. shortly would sell soul for ½ - what are you selling

C. Christ Rewarded vs. 6

1. Protection “Leave her alone”

2. Praise “she has wrought a good work on me”

D. Christ Recorded vs. 9

1. Today we have read – 2000 yrs later

2. Not about her hard work; mother of the year

3. About her extravagant love of Jesus Christ
