Summary: Every Saint is A Missionary
A MISSION FOR THE MASSES
MATT. 25:35-40
1. THE TEXT. JESUS HAD BEEN TEACHING ON THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN AND THE RETURN OF THE BRIDEGROOM. IN OTHER WORDS, HE WAS TEACHING ABOUT HIMSELF, AND ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING READY WHEN HE RETURNS.
a) HE ALSO TAUGHT ABOUT WORKS AND THE REWARDS THAT ARE ASSOCIATED WITH THE WORKS.
b) THEN FINALLY, HE TAUGHT ON THE JUDGEMENT. MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS, ALL OF MUST ONE DAY STAND BEFORE THE LORD AND GIVE AN ACCOUNT FOR THE DEEDS DONE IN THIS BODY.
c) GOD EXPECTS ALL OF US TO BE INVOLVED IN MISSIONS.
d) OUR MISSION IS CHRISTS’ MISSION AND THAT’S TO GLORIFY GOD BY SERVICING OTHERS.
e) FAILURE TO ENGAGE IN MISSIONS DISPLEASES GOD AND IS SIN. BECAUSE IF IT’S RIGHT TO DO IT, IT’S WRONG NOT TO DO IT.
f) IN ORDER TO PERFORM MISSIONS, ONE MUST BE PREPARED FOR MISSIONS.
g) JESUS DID NOT SEND THEM UNTIL HE TRAINED THEM.
2. MYTHS ABOUT MISSIONS. MISSIONS IS ABOUT BEING SERVED. ON THE CONTRARY, IT’S ABOUT SERVING OTHERS.
a) I HAVE TO BE APART OF THE MISSIONS IN ORDER TO DO MISSION WORK. NO. ONCE WE ACCEPT CHRIST WE ARE AUTOMATICALLY MISSIONARIES. SOME ARE JUST NOT ACTIVE.
b) MISSIONS IS JUST FOR WOMEN. MISSIONS IS FOR EVERYBODY.
c) MISSIONS IS ABOUT POSITIONS. NO, IT’S ABOUT OUR DISPOSITION.
3. EXCUSES GIVEN FOR NOT ENGAGING IN MISSIONS.
a) SOME PEOPLE DON’T SEE THE VALUE AND SIGNIFICANCE.
b) SOME SAY THAT THEY ARE TOO BUSY.
c) SOME SAY I’M TOO TIRED.
d) SOME ARE JUST MEAN SPIRITED.
e) SOME FEEL THAT THEY DON’T KNOW ENOUGH.
4. REASONS WHY SOME ARE INVOLVED IN MISSIONS.
a) THEY RECOGNIZE THE VALUE AND SIGNIFICANCE.
b) THEY BELIEVE THE WORD OF GOD.
c) ALTHOUGH THEY ARE BUSY, THEY STILL MAKE TIME.
d) THEY ARE EXCITED ABOUT SERVING.
5. OUR THEME “EMPOWERING THE PEOPLE OF GOD TO MAKE AN IMPACT ON THE PEOPLE OF THE WORLD.”
a) ALL OF US HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD.
b) IT’S TIME FOR GOD’S PEOPLE TO GET SERIOUS ABOUT HIS BUSINESS.
c) WE CANNOT AND MUST NOT BECOME AT EASE IN ZION.
d) WE CANNOT BECOME COMFORTABLE WITH JUST COMING TO CHURCH AND THEN GOING HOME.
e) THE CHRISTIAN FAITH IS A FAITH ABOUT ACTION!
f) WHEN WE LOOK AT JESUS, HE WAS ALWAYS BUSY DOING HIS FATHER’S WORK. PAUL…
g) THERE WILL BE MANY ON JUDGEMENT DAY THAT ARE GOING TO BE IN FOR A RUDE AWAKENING.
h) WE HAVE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF SHARING THE WORD WITH A LOST WORLD!
6. CONCLUSION/ 5 POINTS.
a) ONE, WHAT WE DO DOWN HERE DETERMINES WHAT WE GET UP THERE.
b) TWO, MISSIONS INVOLVES SEEKING. WE MUST SEEK THOSE WHO NEED TO BE SERVED. JESUS CAME SEEKING THOSE WHO WERE LOST!
c) THREE, MISSIONS INVOLVES SERVING. JESUS SAYS THE SON OF MAN CAME TO SERVE AND NOT BE SERVED.
d) FOUR, MISSIONS INVOLVES SHARING. SHARING OUR RESOURCES AND THE GOOD NEWS OF THE GOSPEL.
e) FIVE, MISSIONS INVOLVES SENDING. JESUS SENT THEM OUT TWO BY TWO. AFTER WE SHARE WITH THEM AND TRAIN THEM, WE SEND THEM.
f) SO NOW MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS, IT’S TIME FOR US TO GET BUSY…
g) WE MUST NOT BE SPECTATORS, BUT PARTICIPATORS.
h) DO YOU KNOW WHERE JESUS WAS WHEN HE…
i) FED THE 5,000/OUTSIDE.
j) HEALED THE WOMAN WITH THE ISSUE OF BLOOD/OUTSIDE.
k) HEALED BLIND BARTIMAEUS/OUTSIDE
l) CLEANSED THE LEPERS/OUTSIDE
m) RAISED THE WIDOW OF NAIN’S SON/OUTSIDE
n) CALMED THE RAGING HE SEA/OUTSIDE.
o) GUESS WHERE WE BELONG? OUTSIDE!
SO COME ON GO WITH ME INTO THE VINEYARD TO DO THE MASTERS’ WILL…
