Just like Mary, we are chosen to be dwelling places for God. However, we often face obstacles of unworthiness, unbelief, and unwillingness that hinder the Holy Spirit's work in our lives.

Youth Sermon: A Miraculous Birth

Main Teaching

In the Bible, Luke tells us that the Holy Spirit did something amazing in Mary. She became pregnant with Jesus, even though she was a virgin. She was just a regular girl, but she became the mother of Jesus. That's like pulling a rabbit out of a hat, right? And just like Mary, God wants to do amazing things in our lives too.

And just like Mary, God wants to do amazing things in our lives too.

The Obstacle of Unworthiness

When an angel told Mary she was going to have a baby, she was confused. She didn't think she was special. She was young, poor, and from a town that people looked down on. Sometimes, we feel the same way. We think we're not good enough or that we've messed up too much. But God doesn't see us that way. He sees our potential and wants to do amazing things in our lives.

The Obstacle of Unbelief

Mary didn't understand how she could have a baby since she was a virgin. Sometimes, we don't believe that God can do big things in our lives. We think our problems are too big or that miracles don't happen anymore. But with God, nothing is impossible. He can do more than we can even imagine.

The Obstacle of Unwillingness

In the end, Mary had to say "yes" to God's plan. She said, "I am the Lord's servant. May it be to me as you have said." Sometimes, we miss out on what God has for us because we're scared or we think we know better. But when we say "yes" to God, that's when we see His power at work.

Conclusion

Just like Mary, we are special to God. He wants to do amazing things in our lives. We might feel unworthy, struggle to believe, or be scared to say "yes," but God's grace is there for us. So, let's open our hearts to the miracles God wants to do in us.

Practical Life Application

God, thank you for loving us and wanting to do amazing things in our lives. Help us to overcome our feelings of unworthiness, our unbelief, and our unwillingness. We want to say "yes" to you. Amen.
