A MIGHTY WARRIOR

1. The Lord is with me like a mighty warrior

2. He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth

3. The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle

4. The Lord is a warrior; the Lord is his name.

5. The battle is not yours, but God’s

6. With him is only the arm of flesh, but with us is the Lord our God to help us and to fight our battles.

7. Hail will sweep away your refuge, the lie, and water will overflow your hiding place

A MIGHTY WARRIOR

1. The Lord is with me like a mighty warrior

Jeremiah 20 : 10 - 13

10 I hear many whispering,

“Terror on every side!

Denounce him! Let’s denounce him!”

All my friends

are waiting for me to slip, saying,

“Perhaps he will be deceived;

then we will prevail over him

and take our revenge on him.”

11 But the Lord is with me like a mighty warrior;

so my persecutors will stumble and not prevail.

They will fail and be thoroughly disgraced;

their dishonor will never be forgotten.

12 Lord Almighty, you who examine the righteous

and probe the heart and mind,

let me see your vengeance on them,

for to you I have committed my cause.

13 Sing to the Lord!

Give praise to the Lord!

He rescues the life of the needy

from the hands of the wicked.

11 The Lord Almighty is with us;

the God of Jacob is our fortress.

The Lord Almighty—

are drowned in the Red Sea.

5 The deep waters have covered them;

they sank to the depths like a stone.

6 Your right hand, Lord,

was majestic in power.

shattered the enemy.

7 “In the greatness of your majesty

you threw down those who opposed you.

You unleashed your burning anger;

it consumed them like stubble.

8 By the blast of your nostrils

the waters piled up.

The surging waters stood up like a wall;

the deep waters congealed in the heart of the sea.

9 The enemy boasted,

‘I will pursue, I will overtake them.

I will divide the spoils;

I will gorge myself on them.

I will draw my sword

and my hand will destroy them.’

10 But you blew with your breath,

and the sea covered them.

They sank like lead

in the mighty waters.

11 Who among the gods

is like you, Lord?

Who is like you—

majestic in holiness,

awesome in glory,

working wonders?

12 “You stretch out your right hand,

and the earth swallows your enemies.

13 In your unfailing love you will lead

the people you have redeemed.

In your strength you will guide them

to your holy dwelling.

14 The nations will hear and tremble;

anguish will grip the people of Philistia.
