Summary: In Noah Webster's 1828 Dictionary, comfort means to strengthen the mind when depressed or enfeebled; to console; to give new vigor to the spirits; to cheer, or to relieve for depression, or trouble. Not only do the disciples need comforting, we all do. Find comfort in John 14.

Verse 1, Jesus Christ the Son, and God the Father are one.

Verse 2, Promise of an eternal home. A Prepared place.

Verses 3-5, Return and rapture. What Jesus would do had never been done by any great leader.

Verse 6-7, Space between guilty sinner and God is spanned.

Verses 8-11, The Father, and Son are one.

Verse 12, Works of Christ were enough to prove His Deity. John 10:37-38

Verse 12, Because Jesus Goes, The Work Grows.

Believers are to do the work of Jesus. Soul winning. Humanly speaking, He was limited as one man.

Verses 13-14, Assurance of Answered Prayer.

a. Prayer must be made to the Father.

b. In the name of Jesus Christ.

c. For the glory of God, James 4.

d. Coming from an obedient person, verse 15.

Verses 16-17, The Coming of the Comforter, The Holy Ghost.

a. Verse 16, Where He will abide. How long. Security.

b. Verse 17, Spirit of Truth, keeps us from error, 1 John 4:1-3.

Verse 18, Christians are not left Orphans in the World.

a. Romans 8:26-27, Our intercessor in the world.

b. Roans 8:34, Our intercessor in Heaven, Hebrews 4:14.

Verse 19, Our Life is Assured by Life in Christ, Revelation 1:18

Verse 20, Knowledge of Diving Life in Believers, 1 John 5:13.

Verse 21, Test of Love, how to receive the full blessings of Salvation.

Verse 22, Not Iscariot, but Luke 6:16, the brother of James.

Verses 23-25, Love, and obedience is the way to have peace and fellowship with God.

Verse 26, Ministry of the Spirit.

Verse 27, Gift of Christ’s Peace.

Verses 28-29, Failure of the Disciples Love.
