Plan for: Thanksgiving | Advent | Christmas
Encourages us to find hope, comfort, and guidance in God's Word, emphasizing the importance of love, forgiveness, and mercy in our faith journey.
Good morning, dear friends. We gather here today, hearts full of hope, eyes lifted to Heaven. We come together to find comfort, wisdom, and guidance in the Word of God. We are not strangers, but a family. A family brought together by our shared faith, our shared love for our Lord Jesus Christ.
Today, we turn our attention to a specific passage from the Book of Exodus. In Exodus 25:22, we find these words:
"There, above the cover between the two cherubim that are over the ark of the covenant law, I will meet with you and give you all my commands for the Israelites."
This passage, my friends, is more than just a message from the past. It is a beacon of hope for the present, a guiding light for the future. It speaks of a meeting place, a divine encounter. It speaks of mercy, of forgiveness, of love. It speaks of Jesus, our Savior, our Redeemer, our Justifier.
G.K. Chesterton once said, "The Bible tells us to love our neighbors, and also to love our enemies; probably because generally they are the same people." In these trying times, let us remember this wisdom. Let us remember to love, to forgive, to show mercy, just as our Lord does for us.
In the heart of the Book of Exodus, we find ourselves standing shoulder to shoulder with Moses. We stand beside him as he approaches the Ark of the Covenant, as he prepares to receive the divine commands of the Lord. This is no ordinary encounter. This is a divine appointment, a sacred meeting.
Moses, a humble shepherd: He is chosen by God to lead His people out of slavery and into the Promised Land. He is chosen to be the bearer of God's law, the mediator between God and His people. This meeting between Moses and God is not just a historical event. It is a symbol, a sign, a message for us today.
The Ark of the Covenant: This is where this meeting takes place and it’s a symbol of God's presence among His people. It is a reminder of His covenant, His promise, His commitment to His people. It is a reminder that God is with us, that He is for us, that He is in us.
Moses is not alone: He is surrounded by the cherubim, the heavenly beings who guard the presence of God. They are a reminder of the holiness of this meeting, of the sacredness of this encounter. They are a reminder that when we meet with God, we are entering into a holy space, a sacred time.
This meeting: It’s not just about receiving commands. It is about relationship. It is about communion. It is about intimacy with God. Moses does not just receive laws and regulations. He receives the heart of God. He receives the love of God. He receives the mercy of God. It’s also not just for Moses. It is for all of us. We are all invited to meet with God, to receive His commands, to enter into His presence. We are all invited to experience His love, His mercy, His grace. We are all invited to be transformed by His Word, by His Spirit, by His power.
Not a one-time event: It is a continual process, a lifelong journey. We are constantly being called to meet with God, to hear His voice, to follow His lead. We are constantly being called to grow in our relationship with Him, to deepen our love for Him, to strengthen our commitment to Him.
Not just about us: It is about the world around us. As we meet with God, as we receive His commands, as we experience His love, we are called to share this with others. We are called to be a light in the darkness, a beacon of hope in a world of despair. We are called to be ambassadors of God's love, messengers of His mercy, carriers of His grace. In this meeting, we find our purpose, our calling, our mission. We find our identity, our worth, our value. We find our strength, our courage, our hope. We find our God, our Savior, our Friend.
As we continue our exploration of Exodus 25:22, we find ourselves drawn to the image of the mercy seat ... View this full PRO sermon free with PRO
