Summary: Sermon about how a man stood up to a king.

A Man or A Mouse

1 Kings 13:1-9

1. The Confrontation vs 4

Married for many years, Paul had been ignored by his wife, Liz, for some days, so eventually he confronted her with what he perceived as the problem.

'Come on Liz, admit it,' he ranted, 'You only married me because my granddad left me $6 million, didn't you?'

'You really are silly, Paul,' retorted Liz loudly, 'I couldn't care less WHO left it to you.'

What we need, what our country needs is men that will stand and

proclaim right from wrong. People that are willing to stand and

say “Sin is Sin”.

I’m so tired of political correctness. It’s nothing but a way for

the devil to make good people be quiet.

2 Sam 12:7 And Nathan said to David, Thou [art] the man. Thus saith

the LORD God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I

delivered thee out of the hand of Saul; 8 And I gave thee thy

master's house, and thy master's wives into thy bosom, and gave

thee the house of Israel and of Judah; and if [that had been] too

little, I would moreover have given unto thee such and such things.

Matt 14:3 For Herod had laid hold on John, and bound him, and put

[him] in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife.

Where are the men that will stand and point a finger?

2. The Compassion vs 6

but notice a very important point, even thou he called out the King’s

sin, he still had compassion on him. He prayed for him asking God

to heal him. Would you have?

Mamie Adams always went to a branch post office in her town because the postal employees there were friendly. She went there to buy stamps just before Christmas one year and the lines were particularly long. Someone pointed out that there was no need to wait in line because there was a stamp machine in the lobby. "I know," said Mamie, ’but the machine won’t ask me about my arthritis

1Cor 16:14 Let all your things be done with charity. ( LOVE )

1 Cor ch 13, the love chapter, vs 13 the greatest of these is love

it sets us apart

John 13:35 By this shall all [men] know that ye are my disciples, if ye

have love one to another.

It isn’t just a suggestion

John 15:17 These things I command you, that ye love one another.

To be like Christ, To be a real Christian, we have to really love

Phil 2: 1 If [there be] therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort

of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,

2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love,

[being] of one accord, of one mind. 3 [Let] nothing [be done] through

strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other

better than themselves. 4 Look not every man on his own things, but

every man also on the things of others. 5 Let this mind be in you,

which was also in Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in the form of God,

thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of

no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was

made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man,

he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death

of the cross.1 9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and

given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of

Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in heaven, and [things] in

earth, and [things] under the earth; 11 And [that] every tongue should

confess that Jesus Christ [is] Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

3. The Commitment vs 7-9

A college man walked into a photography studio with a framed picture of his girlfriend. He wanted the picture duplicated. This involved removing it from the frame. In doing this, the studio owner noticed the inscription on the back of the photograph: “My dearest Tom, I love you with all my heart. I love you more and more each day. I will love you forever and ever. I am yours for all eternity.” It was signed "Helen,” and it contained a P.S.: “If we ever break up, I want this picture back.”

There are way too many people in this world that can be bought off.

We won’t say anything because we might make someone mad,

upset em, they may not like us anymore.

Prov 10:9 He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that

perverteth his ways shall be known.

Prov 28:6 Better [is] the poor that walketh in his uprightness, than [he
