Message Point: Jesus is our only hope for salvation.
Focus Passage: 1 Peter 1:3-5
Supplemental Passage: For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it. (Romans 8:24-25 NASB)
Introduction: A man approached a little league baseball game one afternoon. He asked a boy in the dugout what the score was. The boy responded, "Eighteen to nothing--we're behind." "Boy," said the spectator, "I'll bet you're discouraged." "Why should I be discouraged?" replied the little boy. "We haven't even gotten up to bat yet!" Source Unknown.

Application/Call to Obedience: Where is your hope? If it is not in Jesus, you are, indeed, without hope. The Bible says, If you confess that Jesus is Lord and believe that God raised him from death, you will be saved. For it is by our faith that we are put right with God; it is by our confession that we are saved. (Romans 10:9-10 GNB)
