A LETTER OF CONCERN- INVEST IN OTHERS

1 Corinthians 16:1-24

Introduction:

On this Mother’s Day, we are going to look at the last chapter of 1 Corinthians. This chapter teaches us how to invest into others. I thank God everyday for my mom- She has invested much into my life all of these years.

1 Corinthians 16:1-4

You invest in others through your…

1. Money.

This is a subject that I rarely talk about; but money is necessary. There are times that we invest in others through our money. Remember that the Bible says, “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.” It does not say that money is the root of all evil; it says that the love of money is the root of all evil.

Paul had them take an offering every Sunday to help with missions. Christians, we should be generous people.

2. Time.

Paul wanted to spend some time with the Corinthians; but he didn’t want to just have a rushed visit. In fact, at that time, he was in Ephesus. He was staying in Ephesus because that’s where God wanted him. Ministry was happening in Ephesus, although it was dangerous for Paul. Paul also wanted them to take care of Timothy while he was there. There were many people that Paul mentioned- He was recognizing the people involved in ministry.

We have to be willing to spend our time ministering to others. We have to go when God says go and stay when God says stay. Investing your money is easier than investing your time. Christians, invest your time in people.

1 Corinthians 16:13-14

3. Love.

I really like these verses- They tell us how to operate every day. Christians, we need to be on guard- Be watching. We need to stand firm in the faith. Be courageous and strong. Then the verse after that says to do everything in love. This is the key. You invest in others because you love them. Sometimes, God has you invest into people that are your enemies. It doesn’t matter if they are an enemy- Invest into their lives.

Conclusion:

1 Corinthians 16:21-24

Without Jesus as Savior, you are cursed. Without Jesus as Savior, you will not want to invest in people. With Jesus as your Savior, you will want to invest in people. Moms, thank you for investing your money, time, and love to us. My mom has proved that being a mother is a ministry. She ministered to my brother and I in so many ways.
