A Journey To New Things
We must be journey-minded and not destination-minded.
Faith is the road map to your future that will take you on the right road so that you do not get lost. Never stop moving until you reach your destination.
Israel embarked on a journey of no return to the Promised Land. They would have reached their destination sooner if they had co-operated with God.
1. Do not miss the destination
1 Corinthians 10:1-11 - Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea, all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, all ate the same spiritual food, and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ. But with most of them God was not well pleased, for their bodies were scattered in the wilderness. Now these things became our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted.
2. Have the right motives
Luke 14:27-30 - And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple. For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it- lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, 'This man began to build and was not able to finish.'
So many Christians take a journey of faith, but have never counted the cost and end up disillusioned.
3. Pass the test
2 Corinthians 2:9 - For to this end I also wrote, that I might put you to the test, whether you are obedient in all things.
4. Keep moving
Hebrews 12:1 - Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.
5. We are different
Exodus 8:23; 9:4 - I will make a difference between My people and your people…. And the LORD will make a difference between the livestock of Israel and the livestock of Egypt. So nothing shall die of all that belongs to the children of Israel.
6. Discipline your body
1 Peter 2:11 - Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul.
7. Victory and celebration always comes
Exodus 15:20-21 - Then Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took the timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances. And Miriam answered them: "Sing to the LORD, For He has triumphed gloriously! The horse and its rider He has thrown into the sea!"
