Summary: A HAFE TURNED CAKE HAS LITTLE VALUE!
A HALF TURNED CAKE
OBSERVATION: HOSEA’S WRITINGS ENCOMPASS THE LATTER PART OF THE NORTHERN KINGDOM OF ISRAEL. THE KINGDOM EXPERIENCED SIX KINGS WITHIN TWENTY-SIX YEARS. EPHRAIM, THE YOUNGER SON OF JOSEPH, GAINED POWER IN THE NORTHERN KINGDOM. CORRUPTION AND IDOLATRY WAS RAMPANT!
INTERPRETATION: HOSEA 7:8 (NKJV) EPHRAIM HAS MIXED HIMSELF AMONG THE PEOPLES; EPHRAIM IS A CAKE UNTURNED.
YOU MIGHT RELATE TO A HALF-BAKED CAKE YOU PURCHASED AT A BAKERY. YOU CUT THE CAKE AND DISCOVER IT HALF-BAKED. THIS WAS PROBABLY NOT AN INTENTIONAL, DECEITFUL ACT, JUST NEGLIGENCE. YOU DISCOVER EPHRAIM’S MOTIVES IN THE FIRST SEVEN VERSES OF HOSEA CHAPTER 7. THESE WERE INTENTIONAL, UNGODLY ACTS! UNFORTUNATELY, UNBECOMING BEHAVIORS EXIST WITHIN THE CHURCH. JESUS ADDRESSED SIMILAR ISSUES USING A CUP AND A PLATTER. READ MATTHEW 23: 23-26.
APPLICATION: A HALF TURNED CHRISTIAN IS OF LITTLE USE TO THE LORD, HIMSELF AND THE CHURCH: A FULLY TURNED CHRISTIAN HAS VALUE FOR ALL.
