The Biblical Formula For A Healthy Church

Introduction:

Many are looking for ways to have a healthy church.

Proposition:

The Bible alone can show us how to grow a healthy church. The following Biblical revelation shows us

how to grow a healthy church.

1. It Was A Caring Church

a. Ac:2:44: And all that believed were together, and had all things common;

i. These new believers cared enough for each other to share their worldly possessions. None of them would lack food, clothing, or shelter.

b. Ac:2:45: And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.

i. In this verse we see them sacrificing to care for each other. It is safe to say they loved each other in deeds.

2. It Was A Stable Doctrinal Church

a. Ac:2:42: And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

i. They were consistent in doctrine as proclaimed by the Apostles.

1. Repentance v. 38

2. Baptizing v. 38

3. Conversion (remission of sins) v. 38

4. Gift of the Holy Ghost v. 38

a. An unwavering commitment to true doctrine

b. Ac:2:41: Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

c. Ac:2:38: Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

3. It Was A Friendly Church

a. Ac:2:47: Praising God, and having favour with all the people.

i. Friendly in Worship and Praise

ii. Friendly with all of the people

iii. There is revelation here that it had a good reputation in its community

4. It Was A Growing Church

a. Ac:2:47: And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

i. This was a church that grew on a daily basis

ii. This was a church that the Lord blessed with new members

iii. This was a church that had a passion for evangelism

5. It Was unified church

a. And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple

i. They had a passion for church attendance

ii. Once a week worship was not enough for them

iii. And a passion for fellowship in church and in their homes

iv. These people did not give themselves to disgruntled factions

v. We can’t picture them tearing down each other

6. It was church that loved to worship God

a. Ac:2:47: Praising God

i. Praising God here shows that that loved to worship

Invitation: If you were to compare your personal life with the biblical formula for a healthy church member. What areas would you change to please the Lord God?

Which one of the following:

1. Stability in Doctrine

2. Church Attendance

3. Fellowship

4. Unity

5. A desire for added souls to the Kingdom

6. To attend church to worship God

God desires our all in our relationship with Him. You as an individual should commit to the truths outlined here that you may know Him in His fullness for you.
