Summary: Take a glimpse into thanksgiving, and see the glory of the Cross being magnified by our praise! We all share moments that should remind us to life in constant gratitude for all God's blessings!
A Glimpse of Thanksgiving
2 Corinthians 4:13-15
The foundation of our gratitude is the Cross of Christ! It’s no wonder that Calvary is the blazing center of the glory of God! So, as we express gratefulness and awe inspired appreciation to God our Father, the agony of the Savior on the cross, is in the back of our minds as a catalyst to our praise! In every situation where Thanksgiving occurs, Jesus is the power behind the gratitude! 2 Corinthians 4:15 Let’s take a glimpse into thanksgiving, and see the glory of the Cross being magnified by our praise!
1. TRIUMPH OVER SICKNESS – Happens every day & we should be Thankful!!
A. 10 Lepers – Luke 17:11-19
1. Concentrate on the one.
B. The Christian’s Victory Over Sin – Romans 6:17-19 & Romans 6:22-23
1. Recognize this world for what it really is – Philippians 3:8
2. Blood of Jesus, The Word of God, and Selfless Sacrifice - Revelation 12:11
2. REUNION WITH LOVED ONES – Picking up the kids from school! (every little reunion)
A. Jacob and Joseph – Genesis 46:29-30 & Genesis 50:15-21 never know when will be last
1. Can’t imagine the anguish of this reunion!
2. 17 yrs. together in Egypt, Jacob got to know Josephs sons too!
B. The Prodigal Son – Luke 15:20-24
1. Reunion brings Thanksgiving!
C. The Christian’s Reunion with God - Romans 5:9-11
1. Make His home with you! – John 14:19-23
2. Heaven on earth and Eternity in His presence!
3. RESURRECTION FROM DEATH – Happens all year, but for Christians, VICTORY!
A. Lazarus - John 11:38-44 – Physical Resurrection
1. Jesus knew His friend’s death was going to be an opportunity to glorify God!
2. Even shed His own tears! – Psalm 116:15
3. The pain of separation cannot compare to the joy of resurrection!
B. Us – Romans 6:1-11 – Spiritual Resurrection
1. The “sting” (hopelessness) of death is removed! Forgiven in Christ, He is Risen!
2. 1 Corinthians 15:50-58 – No fear of death for Christians!
3. Can we even imagine the thanksgiving we will enjoy in heaven?!?!
Conclusion:
1. These glimpses of thanksgiving in moments that we share all year are reminders of
the glory that is to come for faithful Christians!
2. As you enjoy this thanksgiving, what will you see that causes you to praise Him?
2 Corinthians 4:15 - For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God.
