A Foundation Built On Man Through Christ Jesus
Contributed by Gregory Thomas on Jan 2, 2008 (message contributor)
Summary: A message that challenges the religious mindset as we know it. This message challenges us to believe that Jesus is the primary foundation and man is the secondary.
A Foundation Built On Man Through Christ Jesus
There are three type of people in the church
1) Coming out of a storm
2) Going to a storm
3) In a storm
Storms are not purposeless but rather purposeful
The purpose of a storm is to come to test the quality of three Areas.
Test the quality of your:
1) Faith
2) Fruit
3) Foundation
Sometimes God will allow a storm to shift the entire house
Ephesians 2:20
Having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone,
God never starts with the pews he starts with the platform
There are three groups in the local church that make progress difficult
1) Headship
2) Leadership
3) Membership
Psalm 133
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity
It is like the precious ointment upon the head that ran down upon the beard even Aaron’s beard: That went down to the skirts of his garments.
Head of Aaron - Is illustrative of God
Face of Aaron - Identity
Beard of Aaron - Maturity
The oil flows down not up
Causing a curse
When the son of Noah uncovered his father he caused himself to be cursed
In the church we look for fault in our leaders
The job of a father is to provide:
1) Security
2) Identity
3) Affirmation
God is shifting the church as it relates to the book of Acts and that particular experience is now on the scene.
God is re-aligning everything back to himself
Therefore we must corporately work to get the job done.
Using all of who we are
1) Head
2) Heart
3) Hands
When God speaks in revelation he speaks to angels he speaks to the angel of the church and that is the pastor who relays the vision. The function of our church is not to be pastoral conscience but vision conscience.
Five fold Ministry
1) Teacher
2) Pastor
3) Evangelist
4) Prophet
5) Apostle
No man is an island to himself
Hebrews 12: 6-8
6) For whom the lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son he receiveth.
7) If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons,
8) But if ye without chastisement whereof all are partakers, then ye are bastards, and not sons.
So many of us are walking around with spiritual food poisoning, because we are eating at everyone’s table but we won’t eat at our father’s table.
