Popular comedian/entertainer Bill Cosby wrote, "Now that my father is a grandfather he just can’t wait to give money to my kids. But when I was a kid and I asked him for 50 cents, he would tell me the story of his life. How he got up at 5 a.m. when he was 70-years-old and walked 23 miles to milk 90 cows. And the farmer for whom he worked had no bucket, so he had to squirt the milk into his little hand and then walk 8 miles to the nearest can. All for 5 cents. The result was...I never got my 50 cents.
Today we are celebrating a day honoring our fathers. Being a father is a great responsibility. What we do as a father will impact generations to come. Our children learn by watching us and they will become the type of parents that we were. Children learn by example.
Gen 1:27-28
We must start training our children from birth to be obedient and to love the Lord. We must show them by our actions that we too love the Lord and that He is first in our lives. God created the first family. It consisted of Adam and then Eve. God told them to be fruitful and increase in number. Adam and Eve had Cain, Abel, Seth and many more sons and daughters over his 800 years of life.
The father’s Love: (Luke 15:11-31)
1. Uncondional towards you (vs: 11-12)
2. Concerned towards you (vs: 20)
3. Comforts you. (vs: 22-24)

Another son wrote home to his dad. He said, "Dear Dad, Please let me hear from you more often, even if it’s only five or ten."
As we come to the last chapter of the gospel of Luke, we are reminded that God’s love wins. God’s love wins, always. Think about that, always! We have a Father in heaven who gave us His Son, Jesus Christ as a gift of love, a gift of life.
1. Our Father’s gift conquers sin,
2. It conquers death,
3. It conquers brokenness and separation…
4. Our Father’s gift overcomes the world and brings life and immortality to light through the gospel.
