Summary: God can bring life back into your dried up spirit.

A Dry Spell

Text: Ezekiel 37:1-14

Intro:

In this passage of scripture we see that the Lord is speaking to Ezekiel, and giving him a vision of the people of Israel. They are lifeless and they have no hope. This paints a picture of the world today. The church seems lifeless, and without hope. Not making the impact that it used to. We have allowed the enemy to come in and take the life right out of us. What we see here in this passage is that God can put life back in us and we can be productive for the Kingdom.

1. We Are Spiritually Dehydrated (Dry)

Verse 2

Then He caused me to pass by them all around, and behold, there were very many in the open valley; and indeed they were very dry.

The human body cannot make it without water. We get dehydrated when we go without water, and eventually our body will shut down. Our spiritual life is no different. We need the living water flowing through us in order to operate spiritually. We have allowed the enemy to come in and suck the life right out of us, causing us to get dehydrated, and dry up.

What we need, is to get back to the well of living water so that we can live.

John 7:37&38

On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”

2. We Are Here But Have No Life In Us

Verse 8

Indeed, as I looked, the sinews and the flesh came upon them, and the skin covered them over; but there was no breath in them.

We are here, but not doing anything. We are just going through the motions and occupying space. We have allowed the enemy to discourage us to the point or lifelessness. What we really need if for God to breathe life back into us and begin doing the work that He has laid out for us to do.

3. God Will Give Us New Life

Verse 9&10

Also He said to me, “Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live.

So I prophesied as He commanded me, and breath came into them, and they lived, and stood upon their feet, an exceedingly great army.

A great army, not only living, but effective. Ready to do battle with the enemy and operate in the power of God.

We need this breath of life in us so that we can operate in the power of God. We no longer have to be defeated, we can operate in the power of an ALL MIGHTY GOD!!

The things that the enemy throws our way does not have to defeat us, we can operate in the power and authority of God.

Psalms 71:20

You, who have shown me great and severe troubles, Shall revive me again, And bring me up again from the depths of the earth.

God will breathe life into us so that we can be effective for the kingdom. He is willing to do a work in us, if we are willing to let him.

Conclusion

We don’t have to allow the enemy to suck the life out of us, leaving us dry and lifeless. Nor do we need to just occupy space and not accomplish anything. What we really need is for God to breathe in us the breath of life and let Him revive us so that we are able to stand against the powers of the enemy. He will pour out His Spirit on the ones who are willing to accept it. Are you willing to accept it today? Are you going through a dry spell? Has the enemy taken the life out of you? You can change it today by allowing God to breathe new life into you and reviving you and filling you with that living water.
