Can You Still Love And Worship God Through Disappointments? Series

God calls children a blessing and a gift! Jesus actually tells us to be like children and to come to him full of faith and trust. Mark 10:15 reads, "Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”

The most important ingredients a child possesses are innocence, joy, and laughter all of which we start losing due to circumstances of life. Whether it be a poor upbringing or the pressures of a demanding lifestyle; we watch those beautiful attributes that God placed into each and every one of us float away, one nasty wave at a time. Yet; the kind of praise God expects to hear from us is meant to be filled with those awesome qualities. Not only are they the essence of our intimacy with him, but they're also our defense against the damages and the effects of the enemy. Psalm 8:2 explains it this way, "Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger."

There are so many broken arrows out there -especially those who call themselves Christians -displaying a pious attitude while plotting and scheming against their fellow sojourners in order to get ahead. In doing so; they cause hurt and disappointment. They also become a poor representation as a Christ-follower. Jesus couldn't be more specific when He brought those to our attention in Matthew 18:2-6, "He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: 'Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me. If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.'"

Just as children need discipline and correction in order to stay on the right path, God also corrects us as a father because He wants us to have a future residence in heaven with him. The enemy's agenda is to sever our relationship with God in everyway that it can, because it's still desperately trying to steal that worship from God. So; part of his plot comes as worship of money; worship of luxury; worship of possessions; worship of status; worship of bodily indulgences; you name it. And if we're willing to go wherever it'll take us in order to hold on to our earthly pleasures; it won't ever stop until our God-given spirit is completely destroyed; leaving behind not only an empty shell, but a tattered and a decayed one which could no longer hold anything.

Some of the saddest moments of our lives are when we're going through a serious challenge; or the loss of a job; or even the loss of a loved one. But the saddest of all is when God stops correcting us.
