Today Is Yesterday's Tomorrow—6 Series
Contributed by David King on Aug 26, 2006 (message contributor)
Summary: Whatever God did for any man in the past He can repeat again to fulfill His pleasure. If He had helped any one in the past, child of God, He is ready to help you today.
TODAY IS YESTERDAY’S TOMORROW—6
“As I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not fail you nor forsake you …” Josh. 1: 5
“For I know the plans I have for you, ‘declares the Lord’ plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” Jer. 29: 11.
What a God of purpose Jehovah is! The pattern and sequence of creation depict a God who always prepares benefits for tomorrow today. He cannot be found unprepared for any emergencies. He reminded Joshua of what feats Moses achieved because of His presence with him. Then He promised, “As I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not fail you nor forsake you …” josh. 1: 5
HOW WAS HE WITH MOSES?
* As His Defense in front of Pharaoh!
Child of God, your oppressor is in great trouble.
* As his God against the gods of Egypt.
Any rule, any government that does not have the support of God in your life will be overthrown in Jesus’ Name.
* As his Guide in the pillar of fire by night and the pillar of cloud by day.
You are not alone on this journey. Jehovah Shammah is on your side. The wilderness confronting you may be unfamiliar. You might not have come this way before. The issues of your life may be somewhat baffling, strange, unusual but your God knows the way through the wilderness. The terrains may be difficult today. The compass through the clouds is right in His Hands and He will see you through. Remember, He is both the God of the mountains and of the valleys. He knows the way to take to your promised land. Leave all to Him.
* As his Provider.
Moses was the Pastor of the most difficult congregation of all times. The company of “mixed multitudes” brought a great instability to the people. They became unruly, ungrateful and uncooperative in their attitudes.
Momentary lack of supplies spurred them into throwing tantrums and their lustful desires programmed God’s people into tinkering with the idea of idol worship.
They asked for water, grumbled for food, hollered just for everything. God understood the predicament of Moses. He supplied all their needs. As long as He walks by your side, He is your Shepherd therefore you shall not lack any good thing in Jesus Name.
“I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread” Ps. 37: 25.
God is the only constant in the equation of life. Regard your present uncomfortable and unwelcome situations as transient. God is leading you to a land where you will drink water from wells you did not dig, eat bread without scarceness and live in houses filled with goods. This is not just a sweet talk. It is a pattern. God does not call His people into failure or perpetual struggles. The only price to pay is to make sure we are on His side.
* As his Encouragement.
At one time during the journey, Moses, the meekest man on the earth was overwhelmed with discouragement. In Nm. 11 after the people complained about lack of flesh to eat, he was so depressed that for the first time he asked God to kill him to escape the burden of the people! God came through for him. He lightened his burden.
Our God still is in the business of encouraging His people. Beloved, are you being overwhelmed by the daily tasks you are called to do? Are you being rewarded evil for the good you do for people? Are friends turning to foe making your heart to bleed?
Be of good cheer God will take you through. As He was with Moses, He was with Joshua, He certainly is with you. He cares!
Shalom!
