A. The Charge of Complacency-¡¨Woe to them that are at ease¡K¡¨ (1)

To be secure, quiet, and even arrogant; to live in wantonness; even a sense of invincibility

B. The Cause of Complacency (1-6)

1. False security-trusting in their supposed greatness (1-2)

a. Calneh and Hamath overrun by Assyria in 854-846 B.C.

b. Gath was destroyed in 815 B.C. and again in 769 B.C.

2. Faulty schooling-the day of evil is far off (3)

3. Foolish self-indulgence-lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God (4-6)

a. lived as well as they could live

b. ate as well as they could eat

c. enjoyed a great party life filled with music and drinking

d. never worried about the consequences of their actions

C. The Curse Of Complacency (7-14)

1. The Destruction of a Nation

2. The Death of a People

3. The Denunciation of God
