Sunday Morning February 1, 2009 Bel Aire Baptist Church

Series: “Moving With God (Exodus)” [#6]

DEALING WITH THE DEVIL’S KIDS

Exodus 5:1-6:1

Introduction:

It has always been interesting to me how Christians seem so surprised of how lost people behave. It should never be a surprise that a lost person uses bad language, has bad behavior, and simply lives like the devil. Don’t forget that lost people are children of the devil. The problem is not with lost people behaving like lost people. The problem is saved people behaving like lost people.

So when God sends us into the world to deal with the world, what should we do? How should we handle lost people? How do we witness to them?

Exodus 5:1-2

Don’t be surprised that lost people…

1. Don’t know who God is. We as Christians try to witness to lost people using all of our Christian tools. You can’t try to defend to a lost person who God is by using the Bible. The Bible is a Book for Christians and lost people will tell you that fact.

Don’t be surprised that lost people…

2. Don’t fear God. If they don’t believe in Jehovah God why would they fear what He can do? The “turn or burn” method of evangelism just agitates lost people. Why would they fear a place called hell that they don’t believe exist? They just think that this is a manipulative way of trying to convert them.

Exodus 5:3-5

Don’t be surprised that lost people…

3. Don’t bargain with you. We as Christians try to cut deals with people to get them to come to church or listen to us about Christ, etc... We need to stop trying to draw them in on our terms and lift up Jesus before them. Remember what Jesus said-

John 12:32 (NIV)

“But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself."

Exodus 5:6-18

Don’t be surprised that lost people…

4. Don’t care about others- It’s all about them. The world can be ruthless and they don’t care. If you mess with their money, their ideas, etc… they will try to destroy you. Remember that we are always in a spiritual war.

Exodus 5:19-23

Don’t be surprised that lost people…

5. Don’t care if they create conflict amongst God’s people. The enemy loves to create conflict amongst God’s people and we will use his workers to accomplish that if it is possible. Notice who the people blamed. They blamed the leaders and who did the leaders blame? They blamed God.

Conclusion:

Exodus 6:1

Why is God so patient with us? God calls us to be His instruments and we battle Him. God equips us to do whatever it is that He has called us to and we battle Him. God calls us to obedience and we battle Him. And, when we battle Him in all of these things, He still has the victory! In spite of us, God still uses us.

God will have the victory. Lift up the name of Jesus and let Him draw people to Himself.
