Summary: Nebuchadnezzar's pride brought him down. Humbleness brought him back up.

Unfortunately, King Nebuchadnezzar didn't listen because at the end of the 12 months, everything came upon him. He was walking about the royal palace of Babylon and said, "Is not this great Babylon that I have built for a royal dwelling by my mighty power and for the honor of my majesty?" While the word was still in his mouth, a voice from Heaven said, "King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken: the kingdom has departed from you! And they shall drive you from men, and your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field. They shall make you eat grass like oxen; and 7 times shall pass over you, until you know that God rules in the kingdom of men and gives it to whomever He chooses." Daniel 4:28-31

Nebuchadnezzar didn't realize that pride goes before destruction. Proverbs 16:18 He indeed fell. Everything in his dream came to pass. He was driven from men, ate grass like oxen, his body was wet with the dew of heaven till his hair had grown like eagle's feathers.

After a time. Nebuchadnezzar looked up to heaven. When his sanity returned, he praised God and honored Him. "His rule is everlasting, and His kingdom is eternal. All the people of the earth are nothing compared to Him. He does as He pleases among the angels of heaven and among the people of the earth. No one can stop him or say to him, 'what do you mean by doing these things?" When Nebuchadnezzar's sanity returned, so did his honor, glory, and kingdom. Everything was restored back to him, and he had greater honor than before. "Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and glorify and honor the King of Heaven. All His acts are just and true, and He is able to humble the proud." Daniel 4:34-37

Sometimes God has to strip a person of everything for them to realize that there is only one God, and it is NOT them. They may think it's punishment which sometimes it is, but it's really a chance for them to take their eyes off themselves and put their eyes on Him.

Hebrews 12:2 tells us to fix our eyes on Jesus who is the author and finisher of our faith.
