Summary: Sermon #4 NEVER blame God for tempting you or leading you to sin! God is not capable of sinning nor can He tempt you to sin!

The Devil Made Me Do It?

James 1:13-15

NEVER, under ANY circumstances, blame God for tempting you or leading you to sin!

God is not capable of sinning nor can He tempt you to sin!

1st John 1:5

This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

1st John 3:5

And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.

God will NEVER use that which is against His holy nature to cause us to sin!

14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

Luke 11:4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

Luke 22:40 And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.

Luke 22:46 And said unto them, Why sleep ye? Rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.

Then who is responsible for my sins? You are, that’s who!

1 Temptations to sin are stimulated by our own INWARD desire. The desire to do the most heinous acts of sin is already within us. That’s why Jesus said that we must watch and pray that we enter not (yield not) to temptation. We need to pray, Lord, lead us not into temptation. This doesn’t mean that the Lord will lead us into sin. It means Lord, please give us your strength so that we don’t sin, and He will if we watch and pray.

2 What outward stimuli may be a temptation to you, may not be for someone else. We may not have a desire for a certain person Satan places in our path, like this young lady I described earlier, but this does not end Satan’s constant tempting to do evil, because:

3 Satan knows which outward stimuli will attract us and if we are not watchful and prayerful we WILL yield!

15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

a) When lustful desires are ALLOWED to go unhindered, and are yielded to by acts, or desires of the mind and heart, sin is produced.

b) The end of a sinful life is ALWAYS death! Morally, physically, and spiritually.

CONCEIVED: sperm and egg unite. = Lust and the will

BRINGETH FORTH: Gives birth. = When the lust and the will or yielding to temptation unite then it produces sin. The baby’s name is sin.

IT IS FINISHED: Is full grown. = When sin gets full grown he will kill you. The wages of sin is

DEATH! The soul that sinneth it shall DIE!
