Summary: Victory over feelings and emotions.

“ But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:7, NKJV).

A. CLEAR ANY BLOCKS TO SPIRITUAL WALKING WITH GOD

1. Worries: “Do not worry about tomorrow … will care for itself, each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34).

a. Will burden you.

b. Always present.

c. Worries and troubles are a block … to what?

2. Good feeling can make us feel successful, victorious, AI.

3. Weak feelings can make us scared, afraid to step out, hesitant, and second guessing your decision.

4. Sinful feelings can produce guilt, distraction form holiness, sense of separation from God.

5. Examine your emotions, see what is behind them, and get rid of them. “Come boldly to the throne of grace that we may obtain … in times of need” (Hebrews 4:16). To our sinful needs apply:

a. Forgiveness.

b. Mercy.

c. Acceptance.

6. Victory over feelings and emotions. “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness. Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me” (2 Corinthians 12:9).

a. Victory over weakness.

b. Grace is available.

c. Know your weaknesses.

d. Yield to Christ’s power.

e. Usefulness.

f. Victory.

B. LEARN TO “STIR” UP A SPIRITUAL APPETITE

“Stir up the gift of God”

2 Timothy 1:16, NKJV

1. Learn how to loose and give up (This is hard if not impossible.

a. Yielding, pride, vanity, and self-views of holiness. “He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it” (Matthew 10:39). “But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ” (Philippians 3:7).

b. Religious position.

c. Academic success.

d. Community success.

e. Money (?)

2. Practice self-denial. “We have left all and followed You” (Matthew 19:27).

3. Renew your pledge to Christ every day. “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me” (Luke 9:23).

4. A consistent daily walk with Christ. “All run a race to receive a prize … everyone who runs practices to win a race (perishable crown) … I run … reaching forward to the prize ahead ... I discipline my body to receive an imperishable prize” (1 Corinthians 9:24-27, ELT).

5. Live every day/minute/second/ for Christ. Our example Jesus “My Father worketh to this very moment and I work” (John 5:17, ELT). “Walk … redeeming the times” (Ephesians 5:15-16, NLT).

6. Communicate with God daily through the Word, prayer, meditation, and worship.

If you have never really accepted Jesus as your personal Savior, would you do it right now? Do not delay or put it off. If you would like to receive Christ by faith, pray this simple prayer in your heart:

Dear Lord, I acknowledge that I am a sinner. I believe Jesus died for my sins on the cross, and rose again the third day. I repent of my sins. By faith I receive the Lord Jesus as my Savior. You promised to save me, and I believe You, because You are God and cannot lie. I believe right now that the Lord Jesus is my personal Savior, and that all my sins are forgiven through His precious blood. I thank You, dear Lord, for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

If you prayed that prayer, God heard you and saved you. I personally want to welcome you to the family of God and rejoice with you.
