Prayer Warfare

Today I'm talking to you about "Partnering With God In Spiritual Warfare"

Prayer warrior -- not prayer worrier. :)

Movie "War Room" CLIPS?

Three foundations of spiritual warfare from Ephesians 6:

1. There is a spiritual battle raging around you at all times.

Ephesians 6:10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.

11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.

12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Spiritual warfare is not usually the "extraordinary demonic" it is the "ordinary demonic."

The enemy you think is the enemy is not the enemy.

What is the battle we are fighting? Feedback:

> A personal struggle against sin.

> A fight to see Christ exalted in a place or family.

> A spiritual battle for dominance

> A battle for God's glory to be seen

> A battle to break the chains of addiction.

> A battle for the hearts and minds of our children.

The trick is to see the battle behind what is going on.

Your son is being rebellious...

Your daughter is involved with a boy that's not a Christian...

Your boss is pushing you to violate your conscience...

You are too tired for church...

You are feeling like "just this once can't hurt..."

COnflict between you and your husband...

ALL OF THOSE -- are part of the battle.

2. You are involved in this battle, either as a fighter, or a casualty.

13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,

15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.

16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

3. When you pray, you are doing battle.

17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

19 Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel,

20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.

How to partner with God in the battle:

1. Stake out the battleground.

Pray specifically.

What do you want me to do for you?

"help them" -- to do what? What do they really need?

2. Praise the Lord.

Tell the Story from Jehoshaphat:

2Ch 20:5 Then Jehoshaphat stood up in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem at the temple of the LORD in the front of the new courtyard

6 and said: "O LORD, God of our fathers, are you not the God who is in heaven? You rule over all the kingdoms of the nations. Power and might are in your hand, and no one can withstand you.

7 O our God, did you not drive out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel and give it forever to the descendants of Abraham your friend?

8 They have lived in it and have built in it a sanctuary for your Name, saying,

9 'If calamity comes upon us, whether the sword of judgment, or plague or famine, we will stand in your presence before this temple that bears your Name and will cry out to you in our distress, and you will hear us and save us.'

10 "But now here are men from Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir, whose territory you would not allow Israel to invade when they came from Egypt; so they turned away from them and did not destroy them.

11 See how they are repaying us by coming to drive us out of the possession you gave us as an inheritance.

12 O our God, will you not judge them? For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon you."
