THE SPIRIT OF GOD IS UPON ME

TEXT: LUKE 4:18; ISAIAH 61:1, 2 PETER 2:20-22

INTRODUCTION: The topic of this study is taken from the prophecy of Isaiah, as read by Jesus, in the synagogue, the text spoke of the reason why Jesus came. Jesus also fulfilled that mission. Jesus Christ left us an example and wants us to follow in His steps.

WHAT LIFE QUALITIES SHOW THAT THE SPIRIT OF GOD WAS UPON JESUS CHRIST: 1 PETER 1:15-16 , PHILIPPIANS 2:5.

* He endured suffering for man kind

* A life of humility and example

* A life of service and sacrifice

* A life of prayer

Our attitude should be the same as CHRIST JESUS

WHAT WORKS DID HE DO TO FULFILL THAT PROPHECY: JOHN 14:12-14

* He raised the dead-Lazarus - John 11 :43-44

* He healed the broken hearted

* He fed the multiple - John 5:1-14

* He healed the sick - John 9 :1-7

* Souls were saved - John 4:18

* He turned water to wine, he walked on water

WE NEED TO POINT PEOPLE TO CHRIST, WE ARE ENJOINED TO DO GREATER WORKS THAN JESUS DID.

HOW CAN WE DO THE WORKS, AND GREATER WORKS, THAN JESUS DID? : JOHN 14:12-14

All of us who believe in Jesus will continue his works - John 14:12a. This is not only to pastors, or highly spiritual and mature Christians.

We will all do something greater than the works of Jesus, by the help of the holy spirit, which now dwells with us, after Jesus left

We can access this through prayer - John 14:13-14.

We need to submit our will to GOD’S will, so that GOD would accomplish His will through us and through His people.

CONCLUSION: WE CAN DO GREAT WORKS LIKE JESUS CHRIST DID, WHEN WE SUBMIT TO THE HOLY SPIRIT.
