“Aligning with God’s Will”

Stand with me now and raise up your Bible and repeat after me. This is my This is my Bible.

I am what it says I am.

I have what it says I have.

I can do what it says I can do.

Today I will be taught more of the Word of God.

I boldly confess:

My mind is alert.

My heart is receptive.

I will never be the same.

I am about to receive the incorruptible, indestructible, ever-living seed of the Word of God.

I will never be the same—

I’ll never be the same,

in Jesus’ Name!

Amen.

Introduction: The Power of Alignment

As we step into a new season—whether a new year, a new chapter, or a new beginning—many people ask, “What is God’s will for my life?”

God’s will is not a mystery meant to frustrate us; it is a pathway meant to guide us. The problem is not that God is silent—the problem is often that we are misaligned.

Just like a car that is out of alignment pulls to one side, a life that is out of alignment with God’s will produces unnecessary strain, confusion, frustration, and delay.

Turn with me to Proverbs 3:5–6 and say, "Amen" when you are there.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.”

When our lives are aligned with God:

Our decisions become clearer

Our steps become steadier

Our purpose becomes stronger

If you ignore your GPS, it doesn’t stop working—but you may end up lost, delayed, or circling the same block. God’s voice works the same way. Alignment requires humility, trust, and obedience.

Point 1: Trust God Completely

Alignment begins with trust.

Many people trust God partially—until the path doesn’t make sense, the door doesn’t open, or the answer is delayed.

But Proverbs doesn’t say, “Trust the Lord when you understand.”

It says, “Trust the Lord with ALL your heart.”

Partial trust leads to partial obedience.

Complete trust leads to divine direction.

Biblical Truth

When we lean on our own understanding:

We rush

We force doors

We override God’s timing

When we trust God:

He protects us from costly mistakes

He orders our steps

He straightens crooked paths

Daniel wanted a promotion and prayed for favor, but every opportunity seemed blocked. Instead of pushing harder, he paused and sought God. God redirected him to start a workplace outreach. In time, the promotion came—but more importantly, lives were changed.

God often aligns our lives by redirecting our priorities.

Start every day with this prayer:

“Lord, I trust You more than my feelings, logic, or fear.”

Invite God into every decision, not just big ones.

Keep a journal of God’s direction—it builds confidence in His voice.

Point 2: Seek God’s Kingdom First

Matthew 6:33:

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

Misalignment happens when we seek:

Comfort first

Security first

Money first

Approval first

Alignment happens when we seek:

God’s rule

God’s righteousness

God’s purposes

God is not against success—He just refuses to be second.

A farmer focuses on planting and nurturing, not worrying about harvest timing. In the same way, when we focus on God’s kingdom, He handles the results.

Ask before major decisions:

“Does this advance God’s purpose in my life?”

Schedule your life around spiritual priorities, not the other way around.

Commit to prayer, Word, worship, and service consistently.

Point 3: Delight in God’s Will

Psalm 37:4:

“Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.”

This verse does not mean God gives us whatever we want—it means when we delight in Him, He reshapes what we want.

Alignment changes desires before it changes direction.

Maria chased success but felt empty. When she shifted her focus to delighting in God—through worship, serving, and prayer—she discovered joy, clarity, and peace. Her career didn’t disappear; it aligned.

Spend daily time delighting in God, not just asking from Him.

Ask God to purify and align your desires.

Declare:

“Lord, I want what You want more than what I want.”

Point 4: Trust God’s Timing

Jeremiah 29:11:

“For I know the plans I have for you… plans to give you hope and a future.”

God’s plans include:

Timing

Process

Preparation

Impatience creates misalignment. Waiting builds maturity.

Seeds grow underground before they grow above ground. Just because you don’t see progress doesn’t mean

God isn’t working.

Stop comparing your timeline to others.

Thank God for where you are while trusting Him for where you’re going.

Pray daily:

“Lord, I trust Your timing—even when I don’t understand it.”

Point 5: Surrender Your Plans Fully
