3 Crosses – 3 Attitudes – 3 Choices
Contributed by Samuel Fulkerson on Sep 9, 2012 (message contributor)
Summary: God makes the choice of what we go through; however He allows us the choice of how we go through it.
Quotes on attitude by John Maxwell:
"You are only an attitude away from success!"
"Your attitude determines your action. Your action determines your accomplishment."
"Life is not a dress rehearsal."
"The greatest mistake a person can make is doing nothing."
"Others can stop you temporarily, but you're the only one who can do it permanently."
"Where there is not hope in the future, there is no power in the present."
"The attitude of the individual determines the attitude of the group."
"Your attitude is the outward expression of an inward feeling."
"Every change in human attitude must come through internal understanding and acceptance. Man is the only known creature who can reshape and remold himself by altering his attitude."
"The higher you go in any organization of value, the better the attitude you'll find."
"Circumstances do not make you what you are...they reveal what you are."
"God chooses what we go through; we choose how we go through it."
John 3:14-16
(Play – Matthew 27:1-54 – Word Of Promise)
"God chooses what we go through; we choose how we go through it." – John Maxwell
Attitude makes the difference.
Attitude adds buoyance or weight to your life.
Therefore it determines whether you sink or swim.
On Calvary that day there were 3 Crosses and 3 Attitudes and 3 Choices.
3 Crosses:
Jesus – Luke 23:34 “…forgive them; for they know not what they do…”
Thief 1 – Luke 23:39 “And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.”
Thief 2 – Luke 23:40-41 “40- But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? 41- And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.”
3 Attitudes:
Jesus = Forgiveness
Job 42:10 “And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.”
When Jesus prayed for their forgiveness the power of heaven was released.
The Earth shook, the sky turned black, the graves opened.
The power of those words reached back to Adam and forward to you in this room today!
Thief 1 = Rebellion, hate and anger
Thief 2 = Humility, acceptance
3 Choices:
Choice 1 – Choose to forgive.
Matthew 6:14-15 “14- For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: 15- But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”
Choice 2 – To not boil in hate and anger and rebellion.
John 15:13 “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
I John 3:16 “Hereby perceive we the love [of God], because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down [our] lives for the brethren.”
Choice 3 – To take responsibility for our own actions.
Hebrews 4:16 “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”
You have a choice today.
Make the right choices!
