THE GOD WHO FIGHTS FOR THE WEAK

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

INTRODUCTION:

Life often presents battles that seem far beyond our human strength. The weak are often looked down upon and seen as easy targets by the enemy. However, throughout Scripture, God reveals Himself as the Defender of the weak, the Helper of the helpless, and the Mighty Warrior who fights for those who cannot fight for themselves.

Our weakness does not disqualify us from victory — in fact, it qualifies us for divine intervention. When we acknowledge our inability and fully trust in God's power, He steps into our situation and fights our battles with unmatched strength.

This message is to remind you that you are never too weak for God to help, and you are never too powerless for God to defend. The God who fought for Israel at the Red Sea, for Jehoshaphat against the Ammonites, and for David against Goliath is still fighting for His people today.

1. GOD’S STRENGTH IS MADE PERFECT IN OUR WEAKNESS

Even when we feel powerless, God’s power is most visible in our lives.

a) Recognising our limitations

We must admit our human weakness and rely on God’s supernatural power (2 Corinthians 12:9).

b) God uses the weak to confound the strong

He often chooses the weak to shame the mighty and show His glory (1 Corinthians 1:27).

c) Weakness is not a disadvantage with God

God uses our weakness as a platform to display His strength (Isaiah 40:29).

d) Dependence on God attracts His intervention

When we depend on Him completely, He takes full responsibility for the outcome (Psalm 28:7).

Biblical Example: Gideon’s 300 men defeating the Midianites (Judges 7:1-22).

2. GOD DEFENDS HIS CHILDREN AGAINST THEIR ENEMIES

God does not stand idly by while His children are oppressed.

a) God fights for His covenant people

He steps into the battle on behalf of those who belong to Him (Deuteronomy 20:4).

b) God is a shield and a fortress

He is our protector in times of trouble (Psalm 91:1-4).

c) No enemy is too strong for God

He has overcome every force of darkness (Colossians 2:15).

d) God’s intervention brings total victory

When He fights for you, the enemy is utterly defeated (Exodus 14:27-28).

Biblical Example: God fighting for Israel at the Red Sea (Exodus 14:13-31).

3. GOD TURNS WEAKNESS INTO TESTIMONY

What starts as a weakness can end as a powerful testimony of God’s deliverance.

a) God transforms trials into victories

Every battle you face can become a story of His faithfulness (Psalm 34:19).

b) God’s glory is revealed in our deliverance

People will see His hand in your victory (Psalm 118:15-16).

c) Testimonies strengthen others’ faith

Your story can inspire others to trust God (Revelation 12:11).

d) God’s deliverance brings lasting peace

The victory He gives is permanent (John 14:27).

Biblical Example: David’s victory over Goliath became a testimony for all Israel (1 Samuel 17:45-50).

CONCLUSION:

God’s promise to fight for the weak is as true today as it was in the days of Moses, Jehoshaphat, and David. Your weakness is not the end of your story — it is the beginning of God’s mighty work in your life.

Instead of fearing battles, learn to rest in the assurance that the Lord is your Defender and Deliverer. As long as you belong to Him, you will never fight alone, and your victory is guaranteed.
